jWIN strikes deal to sell products under Polaroid name
Well, while some folks are busily working to revive the technology that made the Polaroid name what it is, it seems that company itself (now owned by Hilco and Gorden Brothers) is wasting no time in going down the potentially perilous path of licensing the brand for other companies to use. On that front, consumer electronics maker jWIN -- responsible for the iLuv line of products -- has now announced that it's signed an exclusive agreement to produce and market a whole range of products under the Polaroid brand (which is actually just one of a number of licensing deals recently announced). While specifics are still a bit light, jWIN will apparently make an "extensive assortment" of peripherals for PCs, game consoles and cellphones, as well as other audio / video products, and even the odd laptop case and "cleaning care accessory," among what's sure to be countless other products. iLuv kicks out i168 and i169 HD Radio alarm clocks
Something's really wrong with the world if more than a few months pass by without a new iPod alarm clock from iLuv, so we suppose everyone's a-okay for a few more months now. Announced today, the firm has introduced its first pair of HD Radio clocks, and sure enough, one of 'em plays nice with Cupertino's darling. The i169 would be that player, which offers up a mostly black motif, dual stereo speakers, remote, iPod dock, AM / FM / HD Radio reception, an auxiliary input and dual alarm settings for good measure. As for the currently available i168, it provides most everything you read up there sans the iPod compatibility, but then again, it only demands $89.99. What about the i169, you ask? It'll set you back a cool $169.99 when it lands in "early May." Full release waiting after the break.
JWin's iPod bikini top sports wireless controls
Although wearables that control your iPod are far from new, Korean-based JWin is hoping to lure in the beach goers by developing an iPod-friendly bikini top. Reportedly, the tops come with the play / pause, track, and volume controls sewn right in and communicate with a wireless dongle that you insert into your iPod. Interestingly, it's not stated whether the tops (and more importantly, the electronics) are waterproof, but we're sure those addicted to tanning won't mind either way.
iLuv i182 facilitates live video recording to your iPod / flash card
While we've seen quite a snazzy docking unit that could output video from your iPod to your HDTV, iLuv's taking things in the opposite direction with its forthcoming i182. This particular docking station ups the ante from the old i180 model, and facilitates live video recording from any composite / S-Video source directly onto your iPod or your choice of flash card, giving owners of flash-based PMPs / PVPs a chance to get in on the fun as well. Purportedly, the device brings in whatever video you feed it, and allows users to establish a pre-set recording length while offering up 640 x 480 (2.5Mbps) / 720 x 480 (5Mbps) encoding options. As you can probably tell, iLuv makes things easiest for iPod video owners, but for those looking to record the vids onto a MS, MSDuo, MMC, or SD card, a separate adapter plugs into the docking unit to get things done on the flash storage end. Additionally, a USB 2.0 connector is included for computer syncing / transferring, and while we don't have any confirmations, we're hearing to expect iLuv's latest around the March timeframe for a cool $229.99.
