  • Kane and Lynch film needs a new director

Following the inexplicable trend of movies based on video games getting totally derailed before they even start filming, it seems the once-certain production of Kane and Lynch has become ... decidedly less so. LA Times reports that planned director Patrick Alessandrin (District 13: Ultimatum) is no longer behind the reins of the movie. As a result, the movie's shooting schedule, planned to start next month, has been delayed. A representative from Millennium Films confirmed that "the director has not been chosen" and that the film's "start date is TBD." If you're part of the ever-burgeoning community of high-profile film directors who read this site (what up, Spiels?), consider this your invitation to step in and save the day. That is, if you think you can handle the raw thespianic force of a Willis/Foxx collaboration.

Are the Kane & Lynch video games simply not enough to satiate your homicidal duo needs? Then draw pleasure in a new partnership between IO Interactive and DC Comics, which will spawn a limited comic run telling the origin stories of this reluctant duo produced by DC Wildstorm. The series will be written by Ian Edginton, who has been in the biz for over two decades, working on comics for Marvel, Dark Horse, Heavy Metal, Top Cow and, of course, DC. Chris Mitten will handle illustration duties, while Ben Templesmith will do the covers. The first issue releases this August, just in time for the game's August 24 launch. Why, isn't that quite the coincidence?

  • New Games on Demand added, questionably priced

Now, we know that Xbox 360 Games on Demand costing $19.99 and $29.99 is nothing new, but we have to call into question the choice of that higher price point for two of the three newest games available via the service. Far Cry 2, Kane & Lynch: Dead Men and Shrek the Third are now on the Marketplace, as promised, all priced at $30. Three Hamiltons for Far Cry 2? That we can get behind. But the other two are definitely $20 fare, in our humble (professional) opinion. Especially since you can buy all three games new for near that price from online retailers such as Amazon.

  • Extended Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days trailer welcomes you to Shanghai (again)

Usually, an extended edition features a lot of the stuff that had to be left on the cutting room floor. In the case of this Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days trailer, however, it means "the extra violent stuff we couldn't show the first time around." Seriously, don't hit that play button unless you want to watch two cops unload on a guy that's laying on the ground, practically defenseless -- save for his ability to fire off grunts and groans with every piercing bullet, that is. Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days wreaks havoc on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on August 24.

  • Jamie Foxx to play Lynch in Kane and Lynch film

    by

According to the Twitter account of Kane and Lynch screenwriter Kyle Ward, it seems that Lynch will be played by Academy Award winning actor ... Jamie Foxx. Huh? Tweeting last night that it's a "Done deal ... Jamie Foxx is in," Ward outed the star of Ray as one half of the game adaptation's titular team (Bruce Willis is allegedly signed on for the role of Kane). When asked about whether Foxx would be playing Nathan Drake in the upcoming Uncharted film (also being written by Ward, though he was said to be taken off writing duties some time ago), he clarified, "Foxx for Lynch (Kane/Lynch)," pinning Foxx to the long-haired half of the duo. What's really surprising is that the film's producers didn't go with Kevin Gage (Heat's "Waingro"). Come on -- they look identical! [Via ShackNews]

  • GameTap Thursday: Kane & Lynch, Grimm

GameTap adds a pair of dark tales this week for subscribers. American McGee's Grimm keeps "improving" childhood classics with the addition of The Devil and His Three Golden Hairs (remember, it's free to everyone for the first 24 hours). Also, the dynamic duo of Kane & Lynch get all violent up in the joint. Grimm: The Devil and His Three Golden Hairs (Windows) - Much like Harry Potter, it just keeps getting darker. Kane & Lynch: Dead Men (Windows) - You think we're going to put some Gerstmann-gate crack in here, don't you? Well, we're not! We aren't going to mention it at all. Once again, there aren't any additions to GameTap's free games list this week. The full list of free-to-play titles can be found after the break.

Update: Success! We we able to slash our way through Best Buy Canada's security to discover that you can get DMC4 and Turok bundled together for $89. High price assassin FTW!Today is Sunday, which means we get to look through the all the Sunday deals to spot some of the best gaming deals. We like to think of ourselves as high price assassins whose goal is to rid the world of corporate foolery and deny high priced gaming goods from making it to store shelves. That's just how we roll.Speaking of being an assassin, we discovered that Best Buy has Assassin's Creed and Kane & Lynch: Dead Men for $39 and also priced the original Rainbow Six Vegas at $29. Also, being stealth like a kitten, we noticed that Toys R Us has placed a $49 price tag on Guitar Hero III (game only) and we spotted Circuit City giving away free "DENIED" boxers (the kind you wear) with the purchase of Conflict: Denied Ops. We tried to sneak into Canada's Best Buy stores for some high price murdering, but security prevented our entry and thus, no savings justice could be made.

  • Kane & Lynch demo breaks onto XBLM

Today's most controversial Xbox Live Marketplace offering: a demo for Kane & Lynch: Dead Men from Eidos. It's strange that Kane & Lynch, for many gamers, will be remembered more for the controversy surrounding it than for the game itself. Frankly, we're eager to see what all the fuss was about. In all honesty, we've been curious about the game since it was first revealed. The demo features one level of the single player campaign (co-op is also available). Most will recognize the level from the trailers in which Kane, Lynch, and his crew rappel down the side of a skyscraper. Give the demo a try and see if the game is worth remembering for the right reasons.

  • Kane & Lynch excited for GTAIV

Never once have we thought to use the word "cute" to describe Kane & Lynch -- a game about robbing banks at gunpoint, among other things -- but it really seems the best word to describe the video embedded above. Most of the video is simply listening to Lynch talk about how much he likes the Grand Theft Auto series, and how excited he is to play GTAIV. Of course, we all know it's been delayed until next year, so it looks like he'll have to wait. As we said, it's a cute video (it's also got some salty language, so watch at your own discretion). Give it a watch and give the folks at Eidos some props for their cleverness.[Via Joystiq]

  • Kane and Lynch has bank heist multiplayer, offline co-op

Alright, we've got good news and bad news about Kane and Lynch. Pick a hand. You sure you want that one? Alright, bad news first then. The bad news is that the game will not feature online co-op. Yeah, a game that centers around two characters working together doesn't have online co-op. The news was confirmed by Eurogamer in an interview with the game's director Jens Peter Kurup. From what we can gather of Kurup's circuitous answers, online co-op was scrapped in order to deliver the game on time.In happier news, the multiplayer mode for Kane and Lynch has been revealed and it sounds like a lot of fun. Described by the developers at IO Interactive as such a good idea that they were surprised no one thought of it before, the multiplayer mode has players performing a bank heist. Titled Fragile Alliance, the mode has players attempt to rob a bank within a certain time limit while avoiding police fire. The twist is that players can turn on each other in order to get more loot. However, killing teammates immediately flags you as a traitor, so one has to pick the right moment to betray. Make it back to the getaway car with extra cash and you can purchase better weapons the following round. As a bonus, betrayed teammates are resurrected as police officers so they can exact their bittersweet revenge. In short, it sounds like a great idea. Here's hoping it makes us forget about online co-op.[Via Joystiq. Thanks, THA1icarus]Read -- CVG multiplayer previewRead -- Eurogamer multiplayer interview

  • Kane and Lynch wreak havoc November 20th

So far we've been pretty impressed with what we've seen of Kane & Lynch. The blackguards at Joystiq seemed to enjoy their time with the game at E3 as well. Thus it's with both a little joy and trepidation that we report the game is scheduled to hit store shelves on November 20th. We are happy that we'll finally be able to give the game a proper once over, but also a little worried that November is fast becoming the most densely packed month we've seen all year. Mass Effect, Rock Band (presumably), Call of Duty 4, Blacksite, Army of Two, and now Kane & Lynch. Of course, we're probably forgetting some, too.Sorry kids, looks like we're eating hot dogs this Thanksgiving. Turkey's expensive, and these games won't buy themselves.[Via Evil Avatar]

You may recall the German Kane & Lynch: Dead Men trailer we posted yesterday. If you happen to speak English, then we have good news for you, the trailer has been released (in English) on Xbox Live Marketplace (it's also embedded at the top of this post, because we love you). Yes, now you can enjoy the trailer in both English and high definition goodness. The trailer focuses on Lynch, the long-haired, heavily medicated psycho. We've been intrigued by Kane & Lynch ever since we first laid eyes on it, so here's hoping there are more details coming our way.Note: This trailer contains loads of blood, guts, and foul language. Definitely NSFW.

It's been a while since we've heard anything about Eidos' Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, so we are all over this new trailer. There is one little caveat though: it's in German. It's okay though, because, as we all know, wanton destruction is the real universal language. Honestly, could there be anything better than a man with anger issues teaming up with a highly medicated psycho? Well, no, obviously the answer is no. We think that's perfectly clear. Give the trailer a watch and tell us what you think.

Those wonderful boys at Xboxyde have posted the Kane & Lynch trailer that hit Marketplace this morning. Now this is how you make a trailer. Let's just put it this way, if it was a movie, we'd watch it. Ubisoft Eidos is making it clear that story telling is going to play a big role in this generation. Let's just hope that the gameplay lives up to it.Update:Oops. It's Eidos not Ubisoft.
