YouTube will livestream both weekends of Coachella in April
YouTube is doubling down on its Coachella partnership -- it will stream live performances from both weekends for the first time this year. As has been the case in recent years, the service will stream the festival's first weekend, which takes place April 12th-14th. This time around, YouTube will host a "curated live experience" on the second weekend, including select performances, artist vignettes and behind-the-scenes footage.
Stream Lollapalooza sets live on Red Bull TV this weekend
It's that time of year again, when big names from across the music world come together in Chicago for four days of festivities at Lollapalooza. If you won't be in the Windy City this weekend yet still want to check out some of the performances, Red Bull TV has you covered. Starting Thursday at 7PM ET, you can watch sets from the likes of headliners The Weeknd, Jack White and Arctic Monkeys. Other artists on the streaming docket include Chvrches, Catfish and the Bottlemen, LL Cool J, Khalid, Vampire Weekend and Tyler, The Creator.
Sony recruits Khalid for its next VR music event
Google and Samsung have been adding tons of virtual music experiences, both live and pre-recorded, to their respective line-ups this year. So where does that leave Sony? You'd think a corporation that straddles both industries would be the most likely to gain a monopoly on the burgeoning VR music space. Well, it's not for want of trying. The company kicked off its 'Lost in Music' VR campaign at the onset of the year, courtesy of an immersive music video collaboration with The Chainsmokers. Now, as 2017 draws to a close, it's leveraging its label roster once more for an upcoming partnership with pop hitmaker Khalid.
