There's no doubt that Wii-owning RPG gamers are thirsting for Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, an oasis in a barren desert filled with only ... well, Opoona (as far as traditional Japanese RPGs go, at least). That's why we're really looking forward to Namco Bandai's Tales effort for the Wii, and hope that it can fill the gaping holes in our gamer hearts. Fortunately, everything we've seen on the title so far both looks and sounds enticing. Take, for example, this latest trailer. This three-minute video is packed with gameplay, cinematics, character introductions, action, drama, romance, and anything else you can think of. The only catch is that it's in Japanese, so unless you understand crazy talk, you probably won't know what's being said. (Note: The video stops short at the end because the last ten seconds got cut off.)Japan will be getting the game next month, but those of us waiting for North American localization can expect it in September.[Update: Trailer replaced with a version that doesn't cut off at the end.]%Gallery-5354%[Via Destructoid]

  • Japanese preorder bonus dawns for Tales of Symphonia

Adding to the ever-growing list of "cool stuff Japan gets that we don't," Bandai Namco is offering a sweet preorder bonus with Tales of Symphonia. The RPG, which releases in Japan in late June, will come with a Dramatic DVD for gamers that preorder the title. The DVD will include original animated scenes that add to the game's story, which sounds like a pretty nice extra to us.We're sure the DVD will never see the light of day outside of Japan (officially), so the rest of us will just have to be content to look at screens and pretend that's dramatic. Some new screens might help you with such a task, so just click on the "Read" link below (or the picture above) to check them out.%Gallery-5354%[Via Gemaga]

  • More details on monsters in Tales of Symphonia

Some of you may not be fond of Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World's fighting-with-monsters scheme, but we think it looks pretty neat. Spencer Yip from Siliconera gives us an even more in-depth look into the system than before, reporting that you can ditch your entire party (with the exception of the main character Emil, of course), for a party full of monsters, like in the screen shown above. After you battle monsters, you'll often have a chance to negotiate with them and have them fight for you. It's not as simple as "catching" them all, though, since some monsters will refuse to join your party if they have a grudge against one of your other allied creatures. Since the game provides 200 different species of monster that you can fight with, which we think this can add a lot of depth to this Tales rendition. As long as you don't become obsessed with collecting them, that is, because then you might as well be playing something else.Drawing more similarities from Pokemon, these monsters also evolve. However, you can cause their evolutions by serving them certain foods, so the cooking system in the game should be pretty interesting. We're not sure yet, though, whether these are true, outward-and-inward evolutions, or just stat alterations (as we reported before). Those of you who are looking forward to this title still have a long wait ahead of you. The RPG is set to hit North America in Q4 of this year. Gallery: Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

More delightful media has emerged from the Namco Bandai Editors' Day event! We've updated our gallery with new English screens (and a few inexplicable Japanese screens) of Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. The latest game in Namco Bandai's milked-to-death RPG series (though the relative milked-ness of the Tales name may not have any bearing on the quality of this game!) features a new twist in the form of 200 unique monsters, all of whom can (and, perhaps, gotta) be caught. You can swap out monster party members and alter their stats with various foods.Dawn of the New World will dawn on the shelves this fall.%Gallery-5354%

The more we see and hear about Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, the more excited we get. Not only are we craving some RPGs for the Wii (although Opoona and Baroque will be out relatively soon), but also we're happy to see how the game has improved. Tales has come a long way since its earlier screens, and we can't wait until it hits American shores. To see a deluge of new Tales of Symphonia screenshots, make sure to check past the break.

We guess Namco's PR people are running a bit behind, as they just sent us a press release today letting us know that Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World will get the localization treatment. Hey, Namco, we knew that. Regardless, they did manage to help us beef up our gallery of screens from the game by providing us with a few new ones. Also, note that some of the screens are the same as some of the Japanese screens in our gallery. We included them because now the menus have labels. Labels that we can read.So hit up our gallery below for the new screens and set aside some money for later on this year when the game releases. %Gallery-5354%[Via press release]

We know that many of you are looking forward to Tales of Symphonia: Knights of Ratatosk (or, we should say, Dawn of the New World). Those of you who live in Japan won't have to wait long, though. Namco Bandai is releasing the game in two months, placing an April 24th date on the title.Although this news probably doesn't affect most of us directly, it's good to know that the game is in its final stages. Hopefully this means that American localization will soon follow suit. As for Europe and other PAL nations, we're still waiting to hear word that the game will be coming to those regions. We're assuming the "epic" RPG will show up, eventually -- it just might be a long wait.In the meantime, check out our updated gallery below for tons of Symphonia screens.%Gallery-5354%

  • Nintendo Power's big reveal: Tales of Symphonia coming to the U.S.

The newest issue of Nintendo Power reports what Tales of Symphonia fans in the U.S. (and, we're assuming, the rest of North America) have been hoping for. That's right -- the localization of the Wii game is confirmed, and Knights of Ratatosk will be heading to North American shores. Only, it's not going to be called Knights of Ratatosk. The game has a new subtitle, and will be known instead as Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. At least that's easier to spell, albeit a lot more generic than the previous title.Nintendo Power also boasts that the new Tales will be the Wii's first "epic RPG." Is that an insult to games like Opoona and Baroque, or are those games simply not "epic" enough? Whether it's the first or not, though, we're certainly glad that the game will be localized, especially since it seems to be shaping up pretty nicely.Even though this is good news, is anyone disappointed that Nintendo Power's "secret RPG" turned out to be a not-so-secret game?%Gallery-5354%[Via NeoGAF]

There's been a good amount of Tales of Symphonia: Knights of Ratatosk media around lately, and fortunately, it just keeps on coming. The latest screens show some battle action, as well as some stills from the Jump Festa trailer. Aside from all that, there's also some nice character art to gawk at (like this picture of Malta to the right), so make sure to take a look after the break.

Not only were we just treated to lovely new screens from Tales of Symphonia: Knights of Ratatosk, but now we finally get to check out the trailer from Jump Festa. The video is available on Namco Bandai's official site, and also on YouTube (see above, obviously) at slightly lower quality. Choose your viewing pleasure! The good news is that it's a lot less nausea-inducing than the last event trailer we saw from the game.%Gallery-5354%

  • Tales of Symphonia looks pretty again

New screens for Tales of Symphonia: Knights of Ratatosk have popped up, and they're certainly an improvement over some of the older ones. Also of note is the fact that you can mate your monsters to make even stronger beasts for battle (ala Dragon Quest Monsters). Other than that, there's not much new information on the title. So, how about it, RPG fans? Is this game on your radar? To see some drool-worthy character screens, make sure to battle your way past the break.
