See my vest/see my vest/as we strap a KOR-FX Acousto-Haptic Video Gaming Vest to our chest/Feel this peripheral/it ain't medicinal/it just makes games less ephemeral/Oh please, won't you see my vest! Ahem. Today on Joystiq Streams, something different! Richard Mitchell (@TheRichardM) received a KOR-FX Acousto-Haptic Video Gaming Vest in the mail. Like having a sub-woofer strapped to your torso, the vest is intended to simulate the physicality of your character in a video game. This can range from the whimsical (feel the impact of landing a crazy jump in Sunset Overdrive) to the deeply macabre (feel yourself get shot in Call of Duty. Yeesh). Starting at 4:00PM EST on Joystiq.com/Twitch, Richard is going to play a variety of PlayStation 4 games using the vest. What happens when you're caught in Alien: Isolation? How about when you interrogate an Uruk in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor? We'll find out live. Joystiq.com/Twitch broadcasts every Tuesday and Thursday at 4:00PM EST like clockwork, but if you want to catch every stream we do, vest or non-vest related, make sure to follow us on Twitch. Engadget Expand is our annual event that's all about you -- our fans. It's not your typical tech conference that's priced for people fortunate to have an expense account. We make the event completely FREE thanks to our generous sponsors, giving you the chance to experience the future -- right now. And while you're at it, you get to meet your favorite Engadget editors. When you join us at the Javits Center North in New York City next week on November 7-8, you'll be set loose on our show floor. You can check out some of our exhibitors and get your hands on gadgets that people can't buy yet (or in some cases, build your own in our workshops), head to our Expand stage and hear from some smart and inspiring people and so much more.

  • Immerz KOR-fx acousto-haptic contraption hands-on

Feeling the limitations of your aging Aura Interactor vest? Then you might just be the rare sort of customer that Immerz is after with its new KOR-fx "acousto-haptic" wearable device. As you might have suspected, the device doesn't exactly blow you away when you strap it on, but it is at least somewhat more impressive than a pair of speakers strapped to your chest. That might be enough to get by if it was priced for an impulse buy, but at a hefty $180 it's clearly landed in the smallest of niche markets -- the fact that it feels unnervingly like a medical device of some sort when you have it on doesn't help things either. Head on past the break for a quick video, and hit up the gallery below for a closer look. %Gallery-82126%

  • Immerz KOR-fx 'acousto-haptic' gaming tech gets a ship date

The kids at Immerz want you to know that KOR-fx, the "acousto-haptic technology" that you never knew you wanted, is set to make its all star debut at CES this week. Compatible with any machine that sports audio, the device is essentially a set of speakers that deliver "nearly imperceptible vibrations" to areas of the chest -- activating various neural pathways and creating "a more immersive entertainment experience" somewhat akin to "an uncanny '7th Sense' awareness," reinventing "all forms of multi-media entertainment" in the process. Never mind 3D, your gaming experience just got exceptionally creepy! This bad boy has been available for pre-order for a while now at the princely sum of $190, so if you already made the leap you can expect delivery sometime in May. PR after the break, yo.

  • KOR-fx: It's a rumble pack for your chest!

We have a blast writing goofy CES-timed gadget announcement posts like this one, but why should we have all the fun? C'mon commenters, we'll tell you how to write your own, using the newly-announced rumbly, necklacey KOR-fx as an example: 1. Post a goofy picture of it in action -- you can see we've taken care of this already. 2. Make fun of the company's name -- the company behind this tech is Immerz. Have fun. 3. Kind of explain what it does -- i.e., KOR-fx is like the 3rd Space immersive vest, but somehow less stylish. 4. Doom it to failure -- we'd suggest touching on the $189.99 price point, but feel free to highlight a different flaw as you see fit. 5. Put a final nail in the coffin -- we're going to do it by posting the company's own marketing video after the break, but this is such a personal choice that we wouldn't dare kibitz. Enjoy.
