Normally, the approach to find an interview for the Colosseum is relatively simple, but filled with some frustrating challenges. I check the SK Arena Rating tools, and scan the highest rated teams for that week. I need to keep a special eye out for which teams are predominately clustered on one server. I try to rotate servers each week, so that we're getting decent representation across the player group. (We're trying, anyway. With a single interview each week, it'll take a long time to get someone from each server.)I then create a Death Knight, kill a few dudes for some mailing cash, and haul my happy kiester off to the nearest mailbox. I then mail almost every person on that server who is in the Top 100. (I encourage them to reply to my WoW.com address, so that there's no risk of confusing me for a scam.) I regularly max out the allowable number of in-game mails a character can send. For every 35 to 50 in-game mails I send, I usually hear back from one person. However, while canvassing the server Korgath the other week, I was happy to see many more than one person responded. This was exciting news, because it meant we could do something a little different. I fired all of these excellent Arena players the usual questions, with hopes that we could feature all of them in one shot. I wasn't disappointed, and I hope you won't be either. • Gentlemens Club achieves Herald of the Titans world first (Edited)

Via Guildox, we've just gotten word that Gentlemens Club of Korgath-US, Hordeside, has just become the world-first achievers of Herald of the Titans. This achievement requires that you defeat Algalon on 10-man difficult with no gear above iLevel 226. In other words, they were not wearing a single piece of Hard-mode Ulduar 25-man gear (While we haven't looked closely at their armory, the achievement would allow for normal mode 25-man gear, though even normal mode 25-man weapons would be off limits). [EDIT: iLevel 226 is actually the item level of gear from Normal mode 25-man Ulduar, not Hard mode as previously stated. It is also the item level of gear that drops from Heroic or 25-man Malygos, Kel'thuzad, and Sartharion with at least 2 drakes up. Hard mode 10-man Ulduar also drop iLevel 226 items, which indicates that the Achievement is intended mostly for 10-man progression.]While 10-man and 25-man raids were technically meant to be seperate tiers of progression, it seems like many raiders freely mix the two, and while that's certainly to be expected, and there's nothing wrong with it, it's cool to see at least a few guilds focus on mastering that path of progression and arguably challenging themselves to at least the 10-man Algalon fight as Blizzard meant it to be fought. In short, they've managed to proclaim themselves Kings of the 10-man game in Patch 3.1, even if other guilds technically beat them to 10-man Algalon kill itself. Congratulations to everyone involved in the raid!

The Colosseum takes us inside the world of the Gladiator (Brutal, Vengeful, Merciless, and otherwise), to interview some of the top Arena fighters in the battlegroups. Our goal is to bring a better understanding of the strategy, makeup, and work that goes into dueling it out for fame, fortune, and Netherdrakes. Anthany from Korgath is heralded on the Armory as "the Flawless Victor," someone who has completed the achievement Hot Hot Hot Streak, winning at least 10 rated matches at a rating greater than 2000 (at level 80). So, you can assume just from that information that Anthany might be pretty good. His teams also fit some criteria for being skilled, also. His 2v2 and 5v5 team are both ranked 5th on the Vengeance battlegroup, and his 3v3 team is number 1 right now. Anthany of Korgath was kind enough to take the time to talk to the Colosseum about his current experience in the Arena, and what he worries might be coming down the pipe for his beloved playstyle.

  • Maintenance for June 17th will be short

Here's a heads-up to all our North American night owls early risers and Oceanic readers: It's Tuesday morning, and that means maintenance. Luckily, it's a short one today. Bornakk has said that they expect most servers to only be down a half hour, starting at 5AM PDT and ending a 5:30AM PDT. There are some extra servers that will be down slightly longer, until 6:30AM PDT. Those servers will be listed after the break. Aussies can rejoice as well, as any Oceanic servers not on this list won't be taken down until 5AM AEST (Which is noon over here on the American west coast). For the list of servers that will have a longer downtime, read on:

  • Alliance cake!

There is nothing we love more than a tasty and delicious game-related cake, be it Alliance or Horde (ok, a new content release is nice, too, but beggars can't be choosers on that one). And so this Alliance cake, made by Katalysta on Korgath for her husband's birthday, pretty much hits the spot. The crest looks great, but is that really icing on the "fabric" around the outside? Looks amazing -- no wonder it took her three days to put together. She says it's white chocolate flavored Fondant and plain Fondant, and everything else is done with dyes. Amazing!By my count, this puts us even on the Alliance vs. Horde cakemaking -- 2 and 2. Who'll be next to serve their faction with some amazing cake-making skills?

Tseric informs us that the realms Aegwynn, Akama, Chromaggus, Draka, Drak'thul, Garithos, Hakkar, Khaz Modan, Jubei'Thos, Kul Tiras, Korgath, Malorne, Mug'thol, Runetotem, and Thorium Brotherhood have been taken down for urgent, but unspecified, maintenance.  Further the continent of Kalimdor seems to be having serious technical difficulties - reports in the general forums suggest that the continent may be crashing (or causing player disconnects) as frequently as every thirty seconds.  Ouch.  Thank goodness there's a lot of cool stuff in the Eastern Kingdoms - just hope you didn't log out in the wrong place...
