Although it appears the music licensing isn't complete yet for Lego Batman, TT Games has released some gameplay footage featuring Catwoman and The Riddler. Gotham City's notorious crime-causing couple ... wait, wait one second. Did Riddler and Catwoman ever even work together? That's an open invitation for comic book geeks to show off.Expect a lot more videos (like the one above) leading up to the game's release later this year featuring Batman's gallery of villains. We're definitely looking forward to seeing Mr. J and Harley Quinn in all their blocky glory. Too bad we won't hear Harley's nails-on-a-chalkboard voice though.

A new trailer from the upcoming LEGO Batman game has hit the net, showing off some of that sweet villain action we reported on awhile back. In the video, you can see Catwoman and The Riddler going at it, tearing up what we assume are a gang of rival thugs and also taking the time to navigate some rooftops. After watching it, we'll say this: The Riddler has some brawn to back up those brains of his.%Gallery-13236%

  • LEGO Batman could be a good DS game

To say we were worried about this game coming to the DS would be an understatement. You see, we've had two LEGO titles on the DS, with one being the worst game on the system (okay, maybe Peter Jackson's King Kong is worse) and the other being a title that got several good marks. So it was a 50/50 chance in our eyes on whether this would be a flop or not. Thankfully, the same development team that handled LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga is also undertaking the task of developing LEGO Batman, as well. And it's being built specifically with the DS in mind, so the handheld game will be unique. "It's not a port, it's completely done separately," explains producer Loz Doyle to MTV's Multiplayer blog. "It's done at Traveller's Tales by the same team that did the 'Saga' DS version, and they're a really, really good team. It's kind of the same but different, and there's a lot of touch screen in there."So, yes. It is now official. DS Fanboy is excited for this game.[Via Joystiq]

  • Lego Batman lets you play as villians

As cool as Batman is, everyone knows it's his rogue's gallery that really sets him apart. Even the bad ones (we're looking at you Calendar Man) trump most of Superman's enemies (and don't even get us started on the Flash's). Given that irrefutable fact, imagine our joy when we read that Lego Batman will allow you to play as members of that pantheon of villains. This piece from MTV Multiplayer also delivers another exciting secret about the game: The presence of Danny Elfman's Batman score. The article says that the arrangement isn't finalized, but we think we speak for everyone when we say, "Yes, please."

Having not seen much on the Lego Batman front for a while now, it's good to see something more concrete about the project. The trailer includes all sorts of little tidbits, including some short gameplay snippets as well as bits of the trademark Traveler's Tales humor. The gameplay looks fairly standard for a Lego game, with the fun and variety seemingly focused on character and level design. The trailer introduces the game's (excuse for) storyline, which revolves around Batman's rogue's gallery escaping from Arkham Asylum, and you having to police a town filled with "the worlds most criminally insane." When Lego Batman hits this September you can be sure it'll be a hit, especially with us here.

  • New LEGO Batman screenshots reveal new character: Harley Quinn

Click for high-resolution image. A lot of us here at PS3 Fanboy grew up watching cartoons in the 90's; one cartoon in particular was Batman: The Animated Series (which was ten times better than any of the newer Batman cartoons could ever hope to be). So when we saw the new screenshots of LEGO Batman: The Videogame, we instantly recognized the lovably annoying Harley Quinn -- the Joker's gawky underling. Based off our memory of the show, we suppose that re-pairing Harley with the Joker in this LEGO game would yield befittingly humorous adventures for our heroes, Batman and Robin. What kind of crazy schemes will the Joker pull from his sleeves ... and in what absurd way will Harley find to utterly screw things up? %Gallery-16329%

TT Games officially announced today that the next game in the LEGO franchise, LEGO Batman: The Videogame, is coming out on the Wii (and pretty much every other system). The game will be made by the same development team that made the popular LEGO Star Wars games.LEGO Batman not only lets you play as Batman and Robin, but you can also play as the bad guys. The press release didn't specify whether or not villain control will be limited to certain sections of the game or available throughout, but it's still a nice feature to add. More things to look forward to include the vehicle construction feature, utilizing Batman's gadgetry, and a two player co-op mode. We're 100% convinced that this game is going to rock our world. The game is schedule for a Fall 2008 release, though, and we just don't know how we're going to wait that long. Ah, the sweet, sweet torture of it all.[Via press release]

Was that super-quick teaser trailer not enough to satisfy your need for all-things LEGO Batman? Well, like the Dark Knight himself, GamesIndustry.biz has swooped in to provide a few concrete facts about the fearsome superhero's adorable LEGO-themed title.Using the same optional cooperative gameplay system as the LEGO Star Wars games, LEGO Batman will allow players to play as either Batman or Robin, with one friend able to join in the crime-fighting mayhem -- no four-player co-op this time around, it seems.Villains such as the Joker and Penguin will appear, as Batman and Robin explore Gotham City. Vehicle construction will also return from the LEGO Star Wars series. We're still dying for more details, but with the game's release around a year away, there's still plenty of time for new details to surface.

OK, we're going to warn up front before you cl- ... you already clicked on it, didn't you? Well, as you've probably already seen, there's not a whole lot to absorb in this brief Lego Batman teaser. But its definitely worth watching, especially considering how little time you'll be investing into the process. It also gives us a look at exactly which systems the game will be released for. (Answer: All.)No, it's not gameplay, but how about when he slips his hands on like they're his gloves? ADORABLE. We keep getting more excited about Lego Batman, even if five pieces of conjoined plastic are the least believable Dark Knight ever ... except for George Clooney, of course.

  • Report: TT Games sold to Warner Bros. for approx. $210 million

A Manchester Evening News article profiles Jon Burton, the man who started up developer Traveller's Tales -- later transformed into TT Games and swallowed whole by Warner Bros. last week. From humble beginnings in Cheshire, England in 1989, the company has grown to accomodate over 200 employees across the country and has sold over 42 million games, the majority of which were based on licensed properties. The report asserts that Burton, who owns 80% of the company, sold TT Games to Warner Bros. for the sum of "about" £100 million (approximately $210 million) spread over five years."After 18 years in the video games industry, the opportunity to become a meaningful part of the world's leading entertainment company is the fulfilment of a dream," said Burton. The Warner siblings are sure to be just as grateful, as their array of films and TT Games' success with licensed properties click together perfectly, much like those Lego bricks everyone's so fond of these days.

Not satisfied with merely financing, publishing, and distributing LEGO Batman, Warner Bros. has decided to purchase the whole pie, bagging developer Traveler's Tales and its parent group TT Games. While we haven't been told just how much cash will be stuffed into the briefcase when it changes hands, we do know the acquisition encompasses both the development and publishing arms of TT Games, which owns game rights to a book about obscure world records. Recreating the longest ironing session ever (55 hours, 5 minutes, fyi) would certainly be a thrill, but we've got our fingers crossed for a proper Matrix treatment to follow on the heels of LEGO Indy. Go ahead, eat the red brick -- we dare ya!

We imagine the office floors of UK developer, TT Games, being completely covered in developers sitting with their legs crossed and their eyes firmly fixated on their latest Lego creations. When other groups are hard at work stringing together reams of code and drawing concept sketches, these guys are building bridges, stacking blocks and crying in anguish whenever a careless passerby kicks over a wall. They're making Lego games -- and lots of them too.The studio's head of production, Jonathan Smith, tells GamesIndustry.biz that the Lego tracks have been put down beyond Lego Batman (bricking multiple consoles in 2008). "We have genuinely exciting plans for future Lego titles," says Smith, noting that the positive response earned by the Lego Star Wars games is pushing his team to exceed expectations. Though the titles have been popular among the young ones, it's not unusual to spot an "adult" having a good time with familiar characters and equally familiar building blocks.Though no other Lego-fied franchises are mentioned, we eagerly anticipate the arrival of Lego Pink Panther, Lego Carmen Sandiego: Where in the World is That Damn Piece?, Lego Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Brickening and of course, Lego Lego Batman (the game based on the Lego based on the game).

LEGO Batman has been rumored to be in development for quite some time, but finally fans of building blocks and super heroes are having their dreams met (at least the ones that can be rated E for everyone). Variety of all places is reporting that TT Games is eagerly following up the success of LEGO Star Wars with a LEGO dark knight game. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will do the publishing rights this time and LEGO Batman is set to come out sometime 2008. I'm personally more excited about this LEGO title than Star Wars simply because I'm a bigger fan of Batman. If you could have any property turned into a LEGO game, which would you choose? After witnessing the huge success of the Lego Star Wars games, Warner Bros. is going to work with Lego to make a Lego Batman game. With Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment heading the publisher duties, TT Games is returning to develop the title, which is slated for a 2008 release on new generation consoles. Did you play and enjoy either of the Lego Star Wars games, camera issues aside? Looking past some gameplay issues, we were able to have fun and enjoy The Original Trilogy for what it as. So, do you think "Lego-izing" the Batman universe could see the same success as the Star Wars franchise did? [Via GameStooge]
