Warner Bros. revealed it's pushed back the Wii U version of Lego: The Hobbit until April 22 in North America, despite releasing the game on other platforms this week. According to a press release sent to Joystiq, Warner Bros UK is releasing the Wii U version alongside other platforms on April 11, while Vooks reports a May 7 due date for Nintendo's home console, in contrast to April 16 on other systems. WB didn't explain why it's holding back Bilbo and his dwarven pals from Wii U adventures, but the publisher does have a bit of a history with the Nintendo console. The Wii U didn't get mulitplayer content or campaign DLC for Batman: Arkham Origins, and that version was also delayed in the UK. Add in the recent week's delay for the Wii U version of Arkham Origins: Blackgate in Europe, and then there's the year or so Europeans had to wait for Scribblenauts Unlimited on Nintendo systems. As for Lego: The Hobbit itself, the game chronicles the first two films of the trilogy based on Tolkein's beloved book. Reportedly, dev Traveler's Tales is bringing There and Back Again to the game as DLC, with plans to release it when the third film hits cinemas in December. While Wii U owners have to wait a little longer, if you fancy a halfling with the latest Lego game you can get it now on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, Vita, 3DS and PC. [Image: Warner Bros.]

This week's PSN update brings PlayStation systems the the smallest of people in their smallest versions, courtesy of the newly released Lego: The Hobbit. It's out at retailers for PS4, PS3, and Vita, but if you'd prefer a download version it's also on the PlayStation Store. That'll set you back $60 on PS4, $50 on PS3 and $30 on Vita, so if you're after the smaller of prices, King Oddball at $7 might pick your fancy. The physics-based puzzler has an Angry Birds flavor, except it has a floating rock head who chucks smaller rocks around with his bizarrely long tongue. Oh and he has a crown on his head. It's been out on Vita for a little while as well as iOS, Android, and a few other platforms, but this is its debut on PS4. PS4 also has the new Director's Cut of Strike Suit Zero for $20, while the PS3 makes do with a Sonic Unleashed download for the same price. If you're after a more palatable vintage, Persona 4 is this week's PS2 Classic re-release, meaning you can get it on PS3 for $10. Finally, Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark is the latest PS Plus freebie for subscribers, and Episode 3 of Telltale's The Wolf Among Us is available to PS3 owners, priced at $5. [Image: Atlus]

  • Report: Lego: The Hobbit to add third movie's storyline via DLC

When Lego: The Hobbit debuts in April, the game will only feature content from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug, though the third film in the Peter Jackson-directed trilogy may appear later as DLC, according to reports from the London Toy Fair. Brick Fanatics, a UK site focusing on all things Lego, states that developer Traveler's Tales plans to launch a sizable downloadable addition for Lego: The Hobbit right around the same time that The Hobbit: There And Back Again rolls into theaters. The film is currently slated to debut on December 17, giving the developer eight months to cobble together its downloadable content. As Brick Fanatics points out, this will be a novel situation for the developer. Traveler's Tales has released DLC for its previous Lego games, though so far it's all been minor additions like characters and new costumes. On the other hand, Traveler's Tales has a long history of working with cinematic trilogies, so it makes a certain kind of sense that the developer would want to touch on the final Hobbit film, even if its game will debut eight months prior to the movie's launch. Lego: The Hobbit will reach the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Vita handheld, Wii U and 3DS on April 8. [Image: WB]

Lego: The Hobbit and its merry band of plastic dwarves are coming to North America on April 8, and Europe on April 11. A Warner Bros. representative confirmed the release dates to Joystiq today, so fans will have a TT Games tie-in of the first two Hobbit films to tide them over before There and Back Again hits bigger screens in December. The news follows the reveal of a $270 500GB super slim PS3 bundle for the game, but if you'd prefer to join Bilbo and pals on other systems, you're more than in luck. Lego: The Hobbit is also on the way to Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, Vita, Wii U, 3DS, Windows PC and Mac. [Image: Warner Bros.]

Sony is preparing a new PS3 bundle for the spring to capitalize on the hype surrounding the third and final The Hobbit film due in theaters this December. For $270, interested adventurers can snag a 500GB "super slim" PS3 – which comes with one DualShock 3 controller, appropriate wires and documentation – and a copy of Lego The Hobbit. The latest from TT Games in the long line of Lego revamps focuses on the first two films in Peter Jackson's adapted trilogy, and sees Bilbo Baggins and his band of Dwarves (and one wizard) trek across Middle-earth in order to help the Dwarves reclaim their homeland. Lego The Hobbit launches this spring on just about every current platform: Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, PS Vita, Wii U, 3DS, PC and Mac. [Image: Warner Bros.]

Warner Bros. has officially announced the Lego: The Hobbit video game, after promotional material leaked last week. It's based on the first two movies in Peter Jackson's adaptive trilogy, and it's due in spring 2014 on Xbox One, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, Vita, 3DS, PC and (pause for breath) Mac. Lego: The Hobbit looks to follow developer TT Games' much-tried-and-tested formula, with players guiding the film's myriad of characters, large and hobbit-sized, as they solve puzzles and explore some of the "key locations from the films," including Bag End, the Misty Mountains, Hobbiton, Goblin-town, Mirkwood, and Rivdendell. And since he stars in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, we get to say that Lego-las will probably feature too.
