IGN sneaked a preview and a bunch of videos out for Little Magician's Magic Adventure right before the holidays, and we didn't want to miss the chance to talk about it or to share it with any of you who might not have seen it. The game has another new name for North America: Magician's Quest: Mysterious Times, and IGN's preview makes it sound like a much deeper take on its obvious inspiration, Animal Crossing. The pictograms that are used to string together spells can also be used to converse with neighbors: "Slide in the "greetings" tile and the characters will say hello back. Get more complex though, and the system allows you to combine these, by say, adding a greeting and then a weather icon to, at least in theory, talk about the weather with a character."Random day-to-day gameplay is only part of it: the game includes 52 quests, one a week, that use the magic your character learns in school. We're very quickly becoming big fans of this thing! The first video footage is above, and you can see more (or this in a larger window) at IGN.%Gallery-30083%

Konami has finally revealed a bit about the gameplay involved in Little Magician's Magic Adventure, some of which actually serves to distinguish it a little from Animal Crossing: Wild World. Konami's magic-school communication game has goals! And stuff to do! In a combination of, well, Animal Crossing and an RPG, the game involves learning new magic spells from the other characters in the school. These spells will be put to use in a series of 52 (magical) adventures. Of course, there's also avatar customization and decorating and furniture collecting and that kind of stuff. Little Magician also features Wi-Fi cooperative play, though the press release doesn't specify whether that means local wireless or actual internet. We suspect it may be online for real, because the game features an auto-translating "magical alphabet" for chat.Magic Adventure is scheduled for release on March 17. Our gallery is loaded with screens and art! Our interest is piqued by the promise of magic linguistics -- not to mention magic toilet performances.%Gallery-30083%

Just to be clear, this is magic we're talking about people. Magician's magic! The sorcerers at Konami announced that this February they will wave their styli through the air, casting a spell on the Nintendo DS with Little Magician's Magic Adventure. The upcoming title is described as a mix of adventure and simulation-style role-playing, where players attend a magic school, learn to cast spells, go on adventures and, yes, build relationships with other students. Little Magician's something or other also promises scads of customizable avatars and some 52 different adventures, as well as Wi-Fi connectivity for cooperative play and chatting using the game's "global magic alphabet." We imagine it's just like the regular alphabet, except it can't wear armor or use two-handed weapons.

Tongariboushi to Mahou no 365-Nichi (Witch's Hat and 365 Days of Magic) is a very cute new game from Konami that also happens to be very familiar-looking: basically, take the furries out of Animal Crossing and replace them with Harry Potter fans and you've got Tongariboushi. Unlike Animal Crossing,Tongariboushi has a school setting in which you learn how to perform magic using the touchscreen. Siliconera spoke to a Konami rep who told them that the company was planning to bring the communication game to the U.S. in February, under the redundant title Little Magician's Magic Adventure. If this can pull off the same addictive quality of Crossing, we're in for a year.
