If you've ever been disappointed when Words With Friends refused to accept "bae" as a real word, then noted actor, rapper and pun aficionado Ludacris has a new app for you. The wordsmith behind Word of Mouf and Back for the First Time has partnered with filmmaker and startup founder Edwin Benton to create Slang N' Friendz, a remixed Scrabble and Words With Friends app with a much less rigid view of the English language.

You know what they say -- if you can't Beat 'em, undercut 'em. Signeo's Soul by Ludacris headphone series -- which made its debut a couple of months ago at CES -- has just been priced, and sure enough, each pair is cheaper than what Dr. Dre and co. are charging for the Beats assortment. The top-end SL300 is set to sell for $299, while the similarly styled SL150 goes for $199. The more conventional SL100 will list for $149, and if it's earbuds you're craving, the SL99 will sport an MSRP of $99 while the low-end SL49 offers itself for just $69. Specifics on each one are hosted up after the break, and Americans can expect to see the whole crew this May. As for everyone else? There's no time table yet, but we've been assured by the company that international distribution is being worked on as we speak. Word.

Here's an idea: start a headphone company, and then consult any 'ole musician for sponsorship. It's bound to work out well for you. HP has locked arms with Dr. Dre (and The Biebs!), Sleek Audio has done likewise with 50 Cent, Harman AKG has teamed with Quincy Jones, and now, Signeo is looking to Ludacris for a boost in the marketing department. Here at CES, the aforesaid outfit has just launched the cans you see above, aptly titled Soul by Ludacris. As you'd expect, they look mildly similar to the Beats headphone range that has seemingly taken the world by storm, and according to the release after the break, Luda was tightly involved in the construction of them. The Soul brand is debuting with five models in the line: the SL300 noise-cancelling headphones, on-ear SL150 / SL100 models and the SE99 / SE48 earbuds. The whole crew is tweaked to emit fairly intense bass ("without sacrificing the clarity of mids and highs," mind you), and while no pricing details are being shared just yet, we are told that you can find your own Soul when they hit shelves in "early 2011." One more look and the full release are after the break.

  • Ludacris is rapping about games for you

Ludacris is willing to take the hit for you. He realizes its not cool for you or him to like video games, but frankly he's got the cool to spare, and it's unclear whether you could take the blow to your rep. So, Luda's going to take the hit with Norwegian-exclusive "Press the Start Button" from his new album Theater of the Mind. Not only is he going to rap about games in an effort to legitimize them as an actual cool thing to be into, he's going to rap about every game. This is the H-bomb of social hits, and Ludacris is taking it for you after the break. There are, it should be noted, several bad words. If you're unable or unwilling to separate the game nods from profanity, our pals at Wambling Gamer are going to walk you through it.

  • MMOs get the movie treament in 'Game'

In an interesting spin on the ever-rising deluge of movies based off of popular game properties (and vice versa), we stumbled on a movie in production that, while it doesn't forcibly sodomize feature any of our favorite franchises directly, it casts the future of the massively multiplayer online genre in less than rose-colored glasses. The movie, titled "Game" and being directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, is set in the not-so-distant future, in a dystopian world where mind-control has become a pervasive aspect of human existence. The latest and greatest MMO has players remote-controlling other humans in their games of sport. The hero is the best and most well-known warrior (played by Gerard Butler) of the game called "Slayers" as he seeks to rebel against the system that has enslaved him. Rapper Ludacris and Zoe Bell (Grindhouse) are part of the resistance group called HUMANZ, seeking to bring down this system. It's also reported that Heroes star Milo Ventimiglia has joined the cast in some capacity. Oh my.Seemingly combining equal parts Matrix, The Lawn Mower Man, and TRON, we're praying that Game doesn't take itself too seriously and try and lay down any serious social commentary or anything heavy-handed like that. This has B-movie written all over it, and that's way it should be. If they can manage to sneak in a few inside jokes to MMO players without coming off as condescending, they might even have the workings of a cult hit on their hands. Who knows, maybe there'll even be a "Game: The Game!"

  • Surviving Sony Gamer's Day

I set my alarm yesterday morning. I had a date with Sony Gamer's Day, 2006. And yes, Grammar Rodeo champions, that apostrophe means that it was just for me. Also, about 100 to 200 other journalists and analysts showed up, but I let them stay.Sony's annual all-day press event held few surprises. Instead, it was the last big event before the PS3 retail launch, and we reporters got to play more games, eat fancy hors d'oeuvres, and talk to Sony executives. In the late morning, I attended a lunch that was supposed to be with developers but occurred without them; a roundtable discussion had been canceled. Instead, I got to listen to analysts at my table spout lots of semi-confidential numbers off-the-record. Numbers like "40%," and "5,000,000." (Yes, commenters, those are completely out of context; don't start any rumors.) After eating fancy food that may have been prepared entirely by a team of Cell processors -- it was that good -- I headed to San Francisco's Dogpatch neighborhood for the presentations.
