Click for high-resolution image. Now that most everyone is done with Grand Theft Auto IV, what can Rockstar fans expect from the notorious publisher/developer? Midnight Club: Los Angeles will transplant car lovers into yet another huge, fully rendered city: LA.The fourth installment of the Midnight Club franchise will hit PS3 systems October 7th in North America and October 10th in Europe. (That's a one month delay from its previously announced September release.) Rockstar is promising yet another seamless world, just like the one they created with GTA IV. We hope you opted to use pencil when scribbling the release date for Rockstar's latest non-felony related driving game into your Niko Bellic pinup calendar. Midnight Club: Los Angeles – the fourth installment in Rockstar San Diego's pimp-your-ride racing game – has jettisoned the old September 9 release date in favor of a new October 7th date (October 10 for you Europeans). Ostensibly, the extra time is being used to put that final coat of Turtle Wax on the open-world, track-less, load-time-less title but we like to imagine they're having difficulty getting the LA traffic experience just right. %Gallery-21084%

Someone really loves Rockstar. Ramon at Morpheon Mods has created a PSP that's ready for the upcoming multiplatform (PSP included) release of Midnight Club: Los Angeles. This mod features: "Six polished clear coats, auto grade Metalflake paint, LED's in the R and L trigger buttons (which switch on and off with the WLAN switch), custom clear orange buttons, custom start and WLAN switches (to look like a car's starter button), faux carbon fiber trim around the edges, and a whole heap of custom decals."[Thanks, Simca!]

With Grand Theft Auto IV's release ever-looming, it's easy to forget that Rockstar isn't just about guns and ladies of the night. The company's San Diego outfit announced this morning that its previously announced Midnight Club: Los Angeles, the fourth title in the studio's racing series, will drift to North America for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 9, with Europe getting the title three days later. In addition, the game will share self space with the Rockstar London-developed Midnight Club: LA Remix for the PSP as well. While little is known about what to expect from the portable racer, the console versions promise to let players rev their officially licensed rides in a variety of LA-themed environments, with "no load times, no tracks, and no rules." Rockstar San Diego adds that players will be able to dress up their cars inside and out with an array of licensed paraphernalia, from rims and spoilers to interior gauges and tires, giving those of us with an eye for bling an outlet to flex our garish sense of style.%Gallery-21084%

With the announcement of Midnight Club: Los Angeles, the fourth game in the series, we thought it might be time for yet another public service post that helps you differentiate between the Midnight Club and the Midnight Society, the teen storytellers from Are You Afraid of the Dark? First off, as you've probably already gathered, the Midnight Club is now meeting in Los Angeles and the Midnight Society met in a secret location in a creepy forest. The Club was created by Rockstar San Diego, which is also making the newest title, and the Society was created by children's television company Cinar, which also brought us the The Doodlebops. The new Midnight Club will appear on Xbox 360 and PS3, while the Midnight Society basically just stuck to SNICK. Finally, while Midnight Club is due to return in early 2008, the Midnight Society probably won't return until Nickelodeon notices our tersely-worded petition.
