  • Boat vendors still MIA

Yup, the boat crews are still missing in action. First they were there, then they weren't, and then they were supposed to be back, and they probably won't be back in for the foreseeable future.I'm sure the coding here is complicated (anybody remember how buggy the ships used to be? In the early days of the game, there was probably a 50/50 shot that you would end up out in the middle of the water, having to swim back to shore on your own), but clearly this is a feature players want and Blizzard wants to implement, so why not just buckle down and fix it? Why keep pushing it back farther and farther? Give a programmer a clean room, a fast computer (or two), a case of Mountain Dew, and let him go to town until vendors are sitting on the boats. It's probably not that simple, of course. There are probably a lot of issues with the code, and of course, programmers have lives, too-- even with Mountain Dew. But developers are always saying things like "would you rather us work on your crazy idea, or on something people actually want?" And this is something people actually want-- why not just get it done?

The mysterious and oh so refreshing Halo 3 Game Fuel Mountain Dew that we saw at last week's LA event has hit eBay and is fetching a pretty high price tag. Up for auction is one can of limited edition Halo 3 Mountain Dew featuring Master Chief's handsome mug and is currently sitting at $20 or roughly $2 a sip.Yes, it is one expensive can of Dew, but it has yet to be opened, so that should add some value ... right? Or you could be money-smart, wait until the Halo 3 Dew hits retailers later this August, and for the same price you can buy a few cases to share with your friends. We're going to go with option two.[Via Digg]

The marketing machine is shifting into first gear this August with the release of a Halo 3 branded Mountain Dew called Game Fuel. Advertising Age dug up some news on this "limited edition" drink, finding that its Brute plasma rifle red contents are packed with more caffeine than regular Dew to keep you awake during those long gaming sessions. This supposedly cherry citrus Halo 3 Mountain Dew will only be available for three months, so stock up when August comes around.Update 1: Check out more Halo 3 Dew photos over at Lamma's Game Console forums.[Via energy fiend, Thanks Scott]

Mountain Dew and Red Bull just isn't enough for today's serious gamers. Now they need specially marketed energy supplements to keep them in the fragging zone. Enter Uncommon Loot and Headshot; the candy bar specifically created for gamers. With 100 mg of Guarana, Headshot could pack a serious punch considering that your average bottle of Bawls has approximately 80mg of everyone's favorite nervous system stimulant. Uncommon Loot will be releasing the product to gaming centers first and will eventually make it available on their website. We'll be sure to bring word of Headshot again after the first professional gamer is kicked out of competition for crushing and snorting his candy bar.[via Engadget]

How disappointing it was to discover this Xbox-360 branded Mountain Dew tanker truck wasn't really filled with sugary green liquid. Apparently, avoiding the extra hauling weight helps them save on gas.
