A reason to play My Pokemon Ranch a second time
Japanese Poké-enthusiasts will have a pleasant surprise next time they load up My Pokémon Ranch. No, the game won't suddenly be enjoyable or worthwhile or anything -- don't be silly -- but they will be able to enjoy full compatibility with Pokémon Platinum on the DS, and observe Giratina (in its Another Forme, as seen above) and Shaymin (in its Sky Forme, as seen here), or at least some very angular representations of Giratina and Shaymin.The cap of 1,000 pocket beasties has also been raised to 1,500, and GAME Watch has the first screens of the update -- click through our gallery and take a look. %Gallery-36180%
Update for My Pokemon Ranch arrives in Japan next month
Serebii has the lowdown on some updates set to hit WiiWare title My Pokémon Ranch in Japan next month. The most notable of the changes is full compatibility with Pokémon Platinum on the DS. But, hey, that's old hat, right? Well, there's more to the free update than just that!On top of the compatibility, the update will allow players to store more than the current cap of 1,000 pocket monsters. This will be upped to 1,500. In addition to the storage increase, the game will also allow you to deposit the Giratina original form. My Pokemon Ranch to update for Platinum compatibility
If you happen to have a Japanese Wii and a copy of Pokémon Platinum on the DS, you may have discovered that My Pokémon Ranch does not interface with the new continuation of Diamond and Pearl. Pretty short-sighted of Nintendo, or Game Freak or Ambrella! We wouldn't expect Platinum to be that different.In any case, Nintendo has announced via the official Pokémon site that an update for the WiiWare Pokémon storage device/game is forthcoming sometime this year, to allow connection between the game and Platinum. Also according to the Pokémon site, there is no issue with connecting Platinum to Pokémon Battle Revolution.[Via Inside-Games]

It's a double WiiWare update for Europe and Australia this week as the fresh-faced download service once again blots out new old games. There is a pattern emerging here -- WiiWare one week, Virtual Console the next, and so forth -- but we're not yet sure if it's a deliberate trend or just a coincidence. Either way, it's pretty plain now that Virtual Console stuff is going to become less regular. Europeans, stroll through My Pokemon Ranch this Friday
"Interactive screen saver" Pokémon showcase title My Pokémon Ranch will be available in Europe (and presumably Australia) from this Friday on WiiWare, Nintendo has revealed. Whereas normally we have to wait until Friday itself to see what new bits and bobs appear on the PAL region Virtual Console and WiiWare (indeed, we do a weekly post on the subject, as written by some fabulously witty and erudite chap), Ninty broke the news early this week.We reviewed the game when it arrived in the States last month, and it's fair to say that we weren't the biggest fans, mainly because we're all unfeeling sods with hearts as hard as mahogany it lacked substance.[Via Go Nintendo]

My Pokmon Ranch is on WiiWare and I'm humiliated
So I log on to WiiWare this afternoon, and what do I see is the latest addition to the service? My Pokémon Ranch. A jolt of fear shot through me. "How did they find it?!" I shouted aloud. "Was it the FCC? The SEC? I know they've all been looking for My Pokémon Ranch, but I never thought it would come to this!" I had just called my secretary Beverly to warn her and to order her to start putting Caterpies into the shredder before the Feds got to them when I realized my error.Apparently, My Pokémon Ranch (Nintendo, 1 player, 1,000 Wii Points) is a game that lets you introduce your Miis and your Pokémon (they can be imported from Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl) and allow them to hang out together. It is not, literally, my Pokémon ranch, though I think it's an error that anyone could make. But don't worry, the shredding was promptly halted.

Everyone's Pokemon Ranch becomes My Pokemon Ranch in Australia
Does Nintendo think English-speaking gamers are less willing to share? Minna no Pokémon Bokujo (Everyone's Pokémon Ranch) has popped up on Australia's OFLC database under then name My Pokémon Ranch. The message is clear: get your own Pokémon Ranch.More significant than the name, of course, is the fact that this OFLC rating predicts an upcoming release for the WiiWare Pokémon storage utility/collection game. A rating doesn't help predict time of release at all, but it is an indication that one is on the way.We're quite curious to see whether the release of a game that interacts with Diamond and Pearl on the DS will cause online activity in those games to swell.
