I have absolutely no idea how this slipped under my nose for so long, but the above video is in fact exactly what you think it should be, and it's amazing. The Black Prince of Veiled Stair was put together by Nan the Mistweaver and features vocals deftly delivered by Youtube parody artist Kavo. As always, Nan's video work is excellent here, capturing the story being told with appropriately flashy cuts and special effects that complement without being too overwhelming. The vocals are amazing -- the lyrics were apparently the combined effort of Kavo and Pennygearaxe, and match the original song syllable for syllable. I don't remember the first time I heard this particular idea for a parody being bandied about, but I'm beyond happy to see it come to life like this. Check out the video and while you're at it, head to both Nan the Mistweaver's channel for more machnima, or Kavo's channel for more excellent parody work. Interested in the wide world of machinima? If you're looking for something a bit on the emo side to kick off your weekend, then this machinima music video may do the trick. A collaboration between Nan the Mistweaver and Time-Lost Productions, this video doesn't have a very clearly defined storyline, but instead lets the music set tone and pace. And since Awolnation's Sail, which backs the video, isn't exactly a cheerful tune, there's a very angsty vibe to the video. (How angsty? It adds extra rain to Gilneas, which probably tells you all you need to know.) But any fan of machinima will appreciate how well put together this video is, picking settings and scenes from WoW that fit perfectly with the theme. Interested in the wide world of machinima? • WoW Moviewatch: The Cursed Ones

Nan the Mistweaver created The Cursed Ones as a pride movie for the Gilnean werewolves of WoW. Worgen were in tons of machinima when they were first released, but steadily declined in coverage ever since. This video is decent, as far as such things go, and it does a decent job of grabbing a WoW community and getting them some screen time. But I felt like it moved a little slow, and could have had more to say. The song is so melancholy and angst ridden it's ready to become an English major and write poetry on real paper. The contrast felt a bit out of control to me. It's odd to say "the lighting needed work," but it did. Still, I liked the video, and I'm pretty sure it's not just my addiction to top hats. It's always nice to see a new release from Nan, and The Cursed Ones still brings plenty of fun. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Breath of Life is a breath of fresh air. Nan the Mistweaver's new music video falls somewhere between an epic, narrative drama and sheer operatic amazingness. Her mastery of the animation itself is impressive, even if the special effects were a teensy bit heavy in places. The music selection was spot on. (Like you could go wrong with Florence and the Machines.) And to back all that up, Nan took the time to piece together a classic, WoW plot among multiple races, factions, and hearts. Breath of Life represents a rare kind of machinima we don't see very often these days, and I'm going to be a fan for a long, long time. Make sure to leave her a comment and let her know what you think. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch!
