Last night the (real, not 2K League) NBA Draft took over the Barclays Center in New York, and once again, Fortnite was on display. Considering the age of most top picks it's not surprising the game has fans among players, but Kevin Knox took his tribute to the next level by putting the game's logo on the inner lining of his suit jacket. He won't be the only player in the league by far, as guys like Andre Drummond and Kenneth Faried showed up for the E3 Pro-Am event, Celtics player Gordon Hayward was streaming the game last season while recovering from a broken leg, and Knox has already been getting games in with number one draft pick Deandre Ayton. Knox ended up going number nine to the New York Knicks and (as is customary) was booed by the crowd in his new home city. Hopefully, he and star player Kristaps Porzingis can work on their chemistry by playing duos until Porzingis returns from a torn ACL.

For tonight's NBA draft, ESPN will have fan-focused commentary on its main channel while its ESPN2 coverage will explain what the picks mean for the league. But you can also follow along on the network's Twitter account, which will have "more of a radio-type approach" by ESPN regulars David Jacoby, Ryen Russillo and Ryan Hollins, the company's senior VP of production told Variety. They'll comment while the livestream airs, though it's unclear whether that will continue after the first round.

This week the World Cup moves on from Group play to the Round of 16, and the USMNT can book a trip there with a win or draw against Germany on Thursday (or a loss, if other things happen -- futbol is complicated). In other sportsball news, the NBA Draft is on Thursday night, and with a list full of highly touted prospects plus intriguing free agents like Lebron and Carmelo, it could get very interesting. We're also getting a taste of the rest of summer programming from various networks, but the option we're most excitedly waiting for is HBO's The Leftovers. Also, you may be wondering why we mentioned Big Brother so prominently this week. That's because only now, despite its long run and the wide adoption of HDTV over the last decade, is the voyeuristic reality TV series going to be produced and broadcast in high definition. Check after the break for a list of what's new this week plus a few trailers, and drop a note in the comments if you see any highlights we've missed.

  • 2009 NBA Draft is the first broadcast in HD

There's less than 24 hours to go before the 63rd Annual NBA Draft, and as NBA fans watch a procession of incredibly tall human beings walk across the stage and shake the commissioner's hand on their way to becoming multimillionaires, they'll be doing it for the first time in high definition (though the WNBA beat them to it.) ESPN HD will also have all the draft info filling up side columns on both sides of the screen, among the rest of the coverage planned. Of course, high definition can't keep your team from blowing a pick, but at least when your squad drafts yet another skinny, soft Euro big that will probably never come over, you'll be doing it in HD.

  • Is HDTV in David Stern's black box?

An even bigger mystery than who will go #1 in this year's NBA draft has emerged. A mysterious black box is on NBA.com, accompanied by the cryptic message that when David Stern unveils its contents it will "change the way you see the game". A big and unusual promise. Of course, we hope it contains high-def skycams for every NBA arena, or maybe a Bill Walton verbal restraint device. We certainly hope something 720p or 1080i is coming this way, but unfortunately we will have to wait. June 28th 11:30 a.m. all will be revealed (and likely be wildly underwhelming, but we're still excited).
