The action figure manufacturing crew over at NECA recently posted a few final packaging photographs of their Gears of War action figures that are set for release sometime this month. You can view the glorious packaging photos of Marcus Fenix, Locust Drone, Locust Sniper and the controversial Augustus Cole in the gallery below. Yup, you have to agree, they are beautifully gory figures and the packaging is (dare we say) much better than that seen in the Halo 3 McFarlane figures. Much sleeker and figure specific.%Gallery-14215%

Thanks to the little big event dubbed ToyFare 2008, AFI has blessed us with a photographic preview of NECA's Gears of War series two action figures. And before we go any further, the awesomely bloody-violent picture you see above is a second series GoW figure rightfully named "Locust Headshot". A figure that brings tears to our eyes and is a guaranteed X3F purchase. We've even made room for it by our Viva Pinata toys.Moving along, NECA's second series will be comprised of the Locust Headshot figure you see above, Dominic Santiago, Damon Baird and another Locust variant. No release date has been set, but one could gather that since series one will be releasing in April, the second series should release either in the Summer or Fall. The wait will be rough on us though, we want our headshot figure NOW![Thanks, Joshua Johnson]

Earlier this week the National Entertainment Collectibles Association (NECA) revealed the fourth and final figure in the Series 1 set of upcoming Gears of War action figures.Joining previously announced models of Marcus Fenix, Augustus Cole and the Locust Drone, the Locust Sniper looks like the perfect addition for gamers to add to their collection when the figures release in April 2008. Actually, the models are so detailed that we would even recommend playing out your favorite Gears of War scenarios should you run into any issues with playing games. Action figure manufacturer NECA has been teasing us with artistic Gears of War product shots lately (they just released a preview of the Locust figure yesterday), but they're teasing has gone on long enough. Long enough, because we've come across teaser free full body shots of the new figures ... take that NECA!The folks over at BigBadToyStore posted complete product shots of the new GoW figures including Mr. Fenix, Cole and a Locust, all of which are seven inches tall and retail for around $17 US. We also thought we should mention that BigBadToyStore has a listing for an unannounced Gears "Series 1 Sniper Variant" figure (no picture of course) and our edjamacated guess would be that it's another Locust variant. But, in the meantime, you can salivate over the complete GoW action figure product shot that we've lovingly placed in the gallery below. Yum!%Gallery-14215%

Update: We've placed two Marcus Fenix figure shots as well as a new Cole figure shot in the gallery below. Enjoy! We now officially have a new set of toys to compliment (or rival) our Halo 3 McFarlane figures with manufacturing guru NECA confirming that Gears of War figures will be releasing to retail later this Spring.NECA announced that three "highly detailed" Gears figures will be available at retailers later this Spring, including our man Marcus Fenix, Augustus Cole, and a Locust Drone. NECA did not confirm any dimensions or pricing information in their press release, but did say that the Gears figures will have "extensive articulation, and game-accurate accessories". Chainsaw much? They also found it fitting to tease us with a dramatic Marcus Fenix figure pic you see above and did not include any full product shots. Yes, the pic is artsy and gritty, but darned if we don't want to see 'em already. What little teases.%Gallery-14215%[Via Joystiq]

It's time to play out your own Emergence Day with the first wave of Gears of War action figures featuring Marcus Fenix, Augustus Cole and the Locust Drone -- your old He-Man figures are going to have to substitute for the rest of the cast. The figures will be available "late spring of 2008" and the second wave of dolls will crawl out "late 2008." The figures will be available at Hot Topic, FYE, comic book shops and other specialty stores. There's no word yet currently on price or what the second batch of characters will be, but it seems kind of unfair for Marcus to be without his Dom for an extended period of time (guess Man-At-Arms will have to do for the meantime).%Gallery-14117%

  • Castlevania figures- now in color!

NECA is showing off the final (?) painted versions of their Castlevania figures at Comic-Con, and, judging by these pictures, they will soon be stealing fans' souls and making them their slaves. Simon Belmont's face looks a little too tenderized, but we suppose he's a tough guy and has taken countless beatings from undead whatevers.Alucard and Dracula look just awesome. Think you we would buy such a thing? Yes! And they all seem to come with little monster accessories! As cool as the succubus figure is, however, we just ... don't have a place to display it. Oh, and for those of us waiting for the update: the exclusive pixel-Simon is as terrible in production as it was in the early picture.

  • Gears of War gets all dolled up with action figures

They aren't dolls! They're action figures! And they aren't Gears of War munny dolls either, which makes us sad pandas. The National Entertainment Collectables Association (NECA) has announced they'll be making action figures based on Gears of War "and any potential sequels." Sadly, there isn't a single prototype to show off so we'll just have to keep staring at the cute munny doll."Only once in a while does a property come along that is so rich in content, with amazing character designs and groundbreaking achievements in art, music, and story. While having to turn down most properties made available to us, this was an offer we could not refuse," said Joel Weinshanker, president of NECA. He apparently didn't notice how many dolls action figures his company actually makes. Well, we gamers are suckers for anything with the word "collectible" on it, so collectible action figures probably fall into the same category. At least now some people will be able to fulfill their Marcus and Dom make-out scenes with their dolls action figures.

  • Gears of War action figures announced

NECA has announced a new partnership with Epic Games, in which it will produce a new line of Gears of War collectibles. Said collectibles are set to include action figures, busts, dioramas, and even "prop" replicas (full size Lancer anyone?). The toys collectibles are expected to be available in 2008, just in time for a possible sequel to the 360's breakout hit. An interesting tidbit in the press release is that NECA has acquired the license for Gears of War and "any potential sequels" to the game, adding fuel to such speculations. For those who are interested, NECA has produced many video game related collectibles, including toys based on Resident Evil, Hitman, Tomb Raider, and an upcoming line of Castlevania toys. No further information, such as which specific Gears of War toys will be made or how much they will cost, has been revealed.

  • What a horrible summer not to be going to Comic-Con

NECA, the company responsible for the awesome Castlevania figure prototypes, has a new Simon Belmont figure on the way. It's a somewhat more faithful sculpture of Simon as he appeared in the first Castlevania on the NES. Unfortunately, only 1,000 units will be produced, and it will only be available at the San Diego Comic-Con.We totally want this, and we are all about pixel art, but we must say that this figure, with its rounded edges and inexact paint job, looks a little more like a cookie to us than an action figure. Which actually gives us an idea! [Via NeoGAF]

  • Castlevania action figures belong in this world

It was not by our hands that these action figures were given "flesh." They were brought here by NECA, who wished to pay Castlevania tribute. Simon Belmont, hero of Castlevanias I, II, and (Super) IV, and Alucard, of III, Symphony of the Night, and (spoiler alert, sort of!) Aria and Dawn of Sorrow, are shown here in unpainted, prototype glory. The link below has more views of Simon, but all we have of Alucard is this one shot-- for which we had to put our biohazard suits on and go into Myspace. They resemble the beefy character art of the first NES game more than Ayami Kojima's work, and Simon's stomach isn't something that should be looked at directly, but these are still awesome. We've been looking for some new decorative items, and these will do nicely. Our desks are as empty as our souls. Blogger-kind totally needs action figures such as these.

  • Toying with God of War figures

With the God of War sequel arriving in mere months, now is the perfect time to unveil a pair of Kratos action figures. Neca plans to release these 7-inch-tall collectibles in March, coinciding with the debut of God of War II (March 13). One figure features Kratos in his snuggly Golden Fleece outfit (pictured above), and the other, sans Fleece. With a nod to Mr. Potato Head, the figures' heads, hands, and weapons will be interchangeable. You can pre-order the set from Corner Store Comics for $22.99.Neca has also hinted at the possibility of a towering 13-inch Kratos doll arriving this summer -- with push-button talkie-talkie action. And, not stopping there, Neca is considering a Kratos figure, decked out in full Ares' Armor, along with other figures from the game world, for release this fall.
