Yes it's the end of another year, and it's time to celebrate! Just in case you're not out and about partying this evening, Azeroth is enjoying New Year's Eve as well, and the good news is that you can drink all you want with no hangover at all! This evening in the capital cities, there'll be kegs and holiday food to eat, and fireworks will light up the sky every hour (starting around 6pm server time, if this year is the same as years past). Plus, all the guards in Booty Bay are taking their annual night off, so there'll be PvP aplenty down there. And there are two quests in the game, one for each faction.Enjoy the holiday and stay safe, whether you're in the World of Warcraft or elsewhere tonight. From all of us at WoW Insider to all of you, thanks for making 2008 great, and here's to an even better 2009. %Gallery-12722%

Some of us were too impatient to wait for the Nintendo DSi, forking over good money to import the sexy handheld. But, with 2009 fast approaching, we're going to see a lot of great DSi content hit the market. And, for those of us in North America, we're actually going to see the DSi itself hit the market. We're sure it'll sell truckloads, there's no disputing that. There's also no disputing that 2009 will be the year of the Nintendo DSi. Agree? What are you looking forward to? Can't wait to pick one up?%Gallery-33263%

As we say goodbye to 2008 and welcome a new year, the popular thing to do is make resolutions. We're pretty sure the large majority of folks making resolutions usually give up eventually, but some people follow through with it. Are you making any? Could they be gaming related? Your resolutions, show us them!

Just in case you aren't headed out to a party this evening, let this serve as your reminder that it's New Year's Eve in Azeroth this evening as well. As usual, there will be hourly fireworks in all the major cities after sunset, free drinks in public areas, and revelers aplenty (make sure to blow them a /kiss). Additionally, while it's not listed on Blizzard's official page, there are two quests available (one for each faction), and tradition says that the guards in Booty Bay will get drunk and pass out, which means PvP is going to be welcome in the neutral port town (usually, attacking someone there will get you beat up).Wherever you are this evening (in Azeroth or the real world), here's hoping you have a safe and happy New Year's Eve! Thanks for all you've done for us at WoW Insider in 2007, and we'll see you in 2008!

We want to hear your own personal critique of the year in video games. What were the best titles of the year for you? What were the biggest stories? What games disappointed you or surprised you? And, perhaps most importantly, how will 2007 shape the face of gaming in the years to come? Nothing is off-limits, we just want to know what your 2007 was like and what your hopes are for 2008.

It's Friday once again, and despite the fact that most of us had at least half of this week off, we're looking at another three- or four-day-weekend. So what are you going to do with it (a.k.a. What aRe yoU Playing)?Me, I'm glad to be home and resting after a pretty rushed holiday weekend, so it's going to be lots of relaxing. I haven't played a lot of World of Warcraft in a while, so I think my main goal this weekend will be to get back to my hunter and try leveling her as close to 70 as I can get. Just today, I finally bought my Retriever in EVE Online, also, so I see some more mining in my future as well. You know what they say: more ISK, more problems.Did you get anything fun to play over Christmas? What games are you sinking your MMO teeth into this weekend, and what are you aiming to get done in those games?Previously on WRUP...

  • Drinking it up in the City of Heroes

With New Year's Eve only three weeks away you better start thinking about how you intend to ring in 2008 because it'll be here before you can take down an Arch Villain. If you're like me - a City of Heroes altaholic and semi-alcoholic - you may think about staying within the comfy confines of your humble abode. Far, far away from the temptation to operate anything more complicated than your keyboard. Sound dull and boring? Think again!Ghost Legion, one of Liberty servers oldest Supergroups, is holding their Third Annual New Year's Eve Bash... and they plan on ushering in '08 with a lot more flair and pizazz than Dick Clark or Ryan Seacrest! How? With a drinking game of course! The rules are simple. During the course of the evening's Skull bashing and Hamidon raiding should your virtual hero die you in reality must take two big swigs of your favorite adult beverage. If someone on your team gets defeated - everyone drinks! Long time CoX players have experienced the dreadful "team wipeout." Should the dulcet sounds of the Beach Boy's song Wipeout jingle your ears, and this fate befalls you during the festivities... everyone drinks double! BAM!This event is open to all players, including minors. The law however dictates that minors can not drink alcoholic beverages, so Ghost Legion strongly suggests those under the legal drinking age suck down some soda or milk. The event takes place on Monday, December 31, and starts at 9:00 PM EDT. Hop on the Liberty Server and head over to Warburg for all the rockin' and rollin' you can handle, and be sure to check Ghost Legion's website for all the details.
