var digg_url = 'http://www.digg.com/gaming_news/Nintendo_com_gets_updated_in_a_big_way'; Forget your grandma's boring old Nintendo.com. The new Nintendo.com is extreme in a kind of way that can only be measured in Quantum Dew Units. That's right, the new Nintendo.com's most extreme nature can only be compared to cans of Mountain Dew, with a single can representing one QDU. Right now, Nintendo.com is at about 74,821.288888 QDU. In case you were wondering, that's enough Mountain Dew to choke a unicorn to death. But, in all seriousness, Nintendo.com just looks very ... white now. There's so much white space, we're compelled to bust out a marker and draw little pictures in the margins like we did back in school. But, then again, maybe that's why we didn't graduate. Or may be are brain am broke.Head on over to the new site and poke around. For those of you looking for the return of the Nsider forums, you're out of luck.

The rumor from a couple of days ago is true: Nintendo's website has gotten itself a little makeover. And, just as we showed then, the front page has a lot of white space. But, it's very easy to navigate, so getting around there should be no problem for you. For those looking for the return of the Nsider forums, however, you can just get back to crying in the dark corner you've called home for the last few months.

Some folks are finding Nintendo's website to be loading a bit differently. We knew Nintendo was getting an overhaul (which is why they shut down the forums), but we didn't think it would be so soon. While it isn't loading in the new layout you see above for us, apparently it's working just fine for other folk. We suggest you head on over and give it a whirl.Any comments on the new layout? Good? Bad?

Frequenters of the NSider forums are already aware that Nintendo has closed up shop indefinitely. All in the name of repairs, Nintendo says that Nintendo.com on the whole is receiving a huge overhaul and closing up the forum is just a byproduct of ensuring success with the update. So, until we hear word from Nintendo, might we suggest you folks try other sites for your Nintendo-related debate?

  • Sunlight messing with gameplay?

Over at the Nintendo NSider forums, a poster documented their time with the Wii during the NYC event. Yes, late coverage, but it poses an interesting scenario all the same. Turns out, the sunlight affected gameplay for this poster during the event, affected gameplay for the worse. To quote:"We know that the sensor bar goes all wonky when halogen lights are in the room. But did you know that natural sunlight messes it up too? That's right, if you have the sun beaming right onto the sensor bar, it doesn't work. For about an hour or so, the sun shone right into the store, the two MP3:C kiosks had to have curtains above them, and the Wii Sports Tennis and Shooting Game kiosks were unplayable since they were "shrouded" in sunlight. Later the sun went behind a building, and everything was in working order again."Interesting, however does it actually affect most of us? With the advent of curtains (or mini-blinds, if you're that kind of person), we're hard-pressed to believe this will really hurt the experience had on the console. That is, only if you're playing on the front porch or out by the pool.
