Gateway seems to be on a roll with new product announcements lately. Tonight the company's unveiled a new NV series of laptops with one-touch backup and powersaving features. Let's get down to business: the 15.6-inch laptop's got an LED-backlit display with 1366 x 768 widescreen resolution, up to 4GB DDR2 RAM and 320GB HDD, DVD optical drive, 802.11a/b/g/Draft-N, multi-card reader, VGA and HDMI out, four USB 2.0, 6-cell battery, and Windows Vista Home Premium. Fanciful color choices? We got you covered: NightSky Black, Midnight Blue, Cherry Red, and Coffee Brown. Doling out $499 will net you a 2.1 GHz AMD Athlon 64 with Radeon HD 3200 graphics, while the $599 option comes with 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with GMS 4500MHD. Reincomm just announced the new iriver NV Life, the official name of its M20 prototype. New in that they've done away with the big, navigation pad of the original NV in favor of a more sleek, easily portable SatNav device with PMP functionality. Still, it's a near spec-for-spec clone of the bigger, bulkier NV. Available in either 2GB ?328,000 (about $367) or 4GB ?358,000 (about $400) capacities, the SiRF Star III GPS device dedicates an SD slot to maps and second to augment the onboard flash. Inside, the WinCE 5.0-based device packs an FM-transmitter, DMB TV (with GPS PiP support), and a wide selection of codecs synonymous with the iriver name. The only downside is the display: 800 x 480 pixels spread across 7-inches of glass. On par with the industry but pretty poor when compared to cellphones which offer the same resolution on 2.8-inch displays.

That Infrant acquisition sure looks like it's going well for NetGear, which just announced five more ReadyNAS storage devices. The desktop ReadyNAS NV+ line (pictured) gets the big expansion, with new 1.5TB, 2TB, 3TB, and 4TB models, but you rackmountin' fools out there are also getting a little love with the new 4TB ReadyNAS 1100. All the units sport the same Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, RAID 0 / 1 / 5 support (as well as NetGear's proprietary X-RAID system), and hot-swap support as always, but NetGear has improved the management apps and added support for USB drive sharing as well. Pricing starts at $1099, and it looks like the new models are live on NetGear's site now.

As far as elegant design goes, it doesn't get much classier than the iRiver NV, the oversized jog wheel havin', GPS sportin', DMB streamin', music and video playin', Swiss-army-knife of devices. Apparently, the NV has gone from geek-lust fantasy to pocketbook-lightening reality this week, as iRiver officially released the player / navigator to Korean audiences. In case you've forgotten the details, the NV rocks a 7-inch, 800 x 480 screen (plus a small PMOLED display on the wheel), a 1.3-megapixel camera, utilizes a "dual core" processor, runs on top of Windows CE 5.0, and does all the typical media playback (OGG, MP3, WMA, XviD, AVI, AAC, and so on). The player also boasts T-DMB, a SiRFStar III GPS chip, two SD slots, stereo speakers, and USB connectivity. The wonder-device is on sale now in Korea for 498,000 Won, or about $536. Cross your fingers and maybe (but probably not) we'll see this puppy Stateside. For now, check all the NV's angles in the gallery after the break.

The iriver NV -- as in NaVigation, initially outed as the M10 -- is now up and official. Chances are, if you're in the market for a PMP, the NV's got your needs covered. The 7-inch, 840 x 480 LED backlit LCD packs T-DMB television; SiRF III GPS; 2 SD slots (1 reserved for navigation maps presumably); a USB 2.0 host jack; FM transmitter; a "GPS Camera" which presumably GPS tags its 1.3 megapixel photos; and plenty of media support including OGG audio and DivX video among the usuals. All that in a sleek slab of kit which will more than likely never leave the S.Korean market in its current form.

Just in case we were running into some sort of personal navigation device shortage, Sony has come to the rescue with four new NV units for Europe, which are sure to cover any gaps that might've been left by the myriad of other GPS devices announced in the recent weeks. At the top of the heap, the NV-U92T (pictured) sports a 4.8-inch wide-format touchscreen display, 2GB of flash memory, Memory Stick updates and live traffic info. Of similar ilk, the NV-U82 matches the U92T on display size, but only house 512MB of memory and skips the traffic updates. Both devices are 0.79-inches thick, and feature accelerometers to keep rough track of your location even when you've lost GPS coverage. If that's too much screen for you, Sony is also busting out the NV-U72T and NV-U52, which aren't quite so thin as their pricey companions, lack accelerometers, and sport 3.5-inch touchscreens, but otherwise mirror the specs of the U92T and U82: 2GB of flash and traffic info on the U72T, 512MB of flash in the U52. No word on price, but the big ones should be coming out in late spring, with the other two following this summer.

If any one company had a lot of steam to blow off today, not to mention a lot of new kit to unveil, it was Samsung. (Potentially) rounding out the barrage of Blu-ray players, printers, DVD recorders, and just about everything else we could imagine is a svelte new digicam that pulls double duty as a PMP. The 7.2-megapixel i70 camera sports a sleek, silver / black motif, 3x zoom, three-inch LCD monitor, and a unique sliding cover that reveals a 9-button user interface when opened. Additionally, it sports that oh-so-handy intelligent face recognition feature that's (thankfully) becoming quite a common feature among new cams. Sliding away from the photography side a bit, the i70 also mimics a basic PMP, playing back MP3s, video files, and even text files while on the go. Couple that with a MPEG4 720 x 480 resolution (at 15fps) movie mode and you've got a fairly capable device that still fits the subcompact mold. Of course, Samsung didn't stop to let us know how much this sucka would run you, nor how long we'd have to wait to see it in stores, but surely we won't have to hold out too much longer.

It looks like the design department at Samsung has been working some overtime lately. Barely a week after they busted out that sexy line of Ultra Edition phonage, they're adding a new "NV" line of functional yet fashionable digital cameras to their portfolio. The three cameras, the NV3, NV7 and NV10 are looking sharp, sporting black aluminum and 2.5-inch LCDs, but there's plenty going on under the hood. The real headliner is the NV7 (pictured), with optical image stabilisation and a 7x optical zoom, yet measuring a mere 0.8-inches thick. We're guessing they didn't include the lens in the measurement, but it's slim all the same. Both the NV7 and NV10 have an interesting "touch pad" row of buttons along the sides of the LCD to provide quicker access to menu options. All three cameras feature Samsung's Advanced Shake Reduction feature, but the NV7 is the only one to augment that with optical. The NV10 takes the megapixel cake, at a cool 10, and it's tied with the NV3 for slimness at 0.7-inches, but its 5x optical zoom is a bit more mundane. For sheer pocketability and versatility, the NV3 features a 7 megapixel CCD, 3x zoom and PMP functions, much like its Digimax i6 predecessor. Sadly, Samsung isn't slashing prices with all those designers to feed, and the NV line retails at some fairly steep prices. The NV7 for $450, NV10 for $400 and the NV3 $350.
