A 3D-printed autonomous car, and more in the week that was
3D printing and autonomous cars are two of today's hottest emerging technologies -- so why not combine the two? That's the idea behind Local Motors' latest vehicle, which features a 3D-printed body, a windshield video screen and no steering wheel. Meanwhile, OX launched the world's first all-terrain flat-pack truck, which can be quickly shipped anywhere in the world. Cannae Corporation announced plans to test an "impossible" zero-exhaust microwave thruster that could revolutionize space travel. And Electra Meccanica launched SOLO, an affordable three-wheeled electric vehicle for one.
Albion Online's mounts are for riding, not fighting
A new dev diary regarding Albion Online's mounts reveals that the beasts will be strictly for transportation only. "The player is unable to fight, gather or interact with any buildings while on horseback. Mounts will provide a number of buffs to the character, which are effective immediately when they mount, and deactivate when they dismount," the team posted. While mounts won't be trampling over enemy's corpses, they will come in armored versions that can shrug off more damage if a player is attacked. Mounts are not only represented by horses, but oxen as well, with the latter being more suited to transporting goods over long distances. Come celebrate the Year of the Ox in Guild Wars
It's that time of year again for the Canthan New Year's celebrations in ArenaNet's Guild Wars. This year's festivities begin at Noon Pacific on Friday, January 30, 2009 and run until Noon Pacific on Monday, February 2, 2009.The in-game event will include special gifts to boost your sugar or booze titles, festival quests, fireworks displays, fortune telling, boardwalk games, Rollerbeetle Racing and much more! Plus, as a special gift, there will be a miniature Celestial Ox to replace the miniature Celestial Rat you may have received last year. The finale will include a visit from the great Celestial Ox himself every three hours. See ya there!
Final Fantasy XI throws a bovine bonanza for the Year of the Ox
Those moogles are crazy, ya'know? First they almost cause a buffalo stampede for the opening of the Mog House Management Union Buffalo Bonanza Ranch (try saying that three times fast) and only now do they realize that buffalo eat a lot. Sadly, these poor moogles ended up working during all of the holiday festivities just to keep their buffalo happy. That's heartbreaking by anybody's standards.Yet, while the moogles work, herdsmen have come from the ranch on behalf of the MHMU to bring us buffalo based treats and festivities to the streets of the four main cities of Vana'diel. Plus, if you journey outside of your city's walls, you're bound to run into a few loose buffalo being chased by the MHMU ranchers. Trade them some of your unwanted items, and perhaps they might be so kind to pay you back with free buffs, or new year's gifts!To make sure we didn't miss anything with this story, I spoke with Masskupoively, our resident news moogle.
