For those that recall the oh-so-green Wii developer unit from last year, this here console may look a tad familiar. The difference, however, is that this Wii is a bonafide retail unit customized by its (now prior) owner to express his fascination with all things Yoshi. The console itself touts a spray of Yoshi on one side, while the white base was tattooed with eggs. Of course, you can certainly find a few flaws here and there if you look hard enough, but those imperfections are easy to forgive if you're an unashamed Yoshi fanboy. Sadly, this here unit has apparently found a new owner, but the creator did mention that he may "do this again" if the demand is there. Check out the rest of the photos after the jump.[Thanks, Brian]

Seriously, we Americans could learn a thing or two from the Russians, Chinese, and Japanese, as they all know exactly how to ugly up a mouse better than anyone. As expected, the "hand painted" Daruma tilt-a-mouse proves no different, as its vivid color scheme and less-than-ergonomic grip make for a critter that only a mother (or indebted manufacturer) could love to point with. Of course, you could make a case that the tilting interface that intelligently moves your cursor about the screen is worth a few marks, but considering the entirely more sexy innovations we've seen in mice of late, we're not sure this is going to lift off as anything but technochotchke. But hey, who are we to judge the beauty of your next spherical mouse? It's all yours for a steep ¥9,700 ($82).[Via Spluch]

Nintendo of Canada is raffling off six hand painted Wiis by Canadian artists. Why does Nintendo of Canada get all the cool contests? The last cool thing Nintendo of America ever did was the Dragon Warrior giveaway with Nintendo Power back in the day. Yeah, we just brought up some old-school stuff there! To win such an artistic Wii you must be a citizen of Canada and a member of their My Nintendo club -- oh, and you have to be over 13 years old. Winners will be announced on or around May 9. The Wii certainly lends itself to some artistic reinterpretation. Although painting your Wii would probably void any warranty -- pity.

  • MacBook Pros now available in 20 colors - from ColorWare

It seems like the rumors of multi-colored MacBook Pros were true, though Apple wasn't the one who dipped them in paint. ColorWare, purveyors of colorized high-end electronics, has added the 15-inch MacBook Pro (sorry, no 17-inch - yet) to their array of products you can purchase new and colorized. They also offer their colorizing service for those who need to add some colorful zing to that old 'n busted product you bought mere weeks ago.Their highly-secretive colorizing process costs $449 (not including shipping) for Apple's pro notebook line, which also includes the new MacBook Pro. A base model 1.83 GHz MacBook Pro purchased from ColorWare in something other than Apple's standard titanium grey will cost $2449, while the higher-end 2.0 GHz model sells for $2949. You'll also have to wait for your brighter and shinier Intel-based pro Apple notebook: current shipping times are 2-3 weeks.I have yet to see one of these in the wild, and it's hard to say what my reaction would be. Apple has obviously done a fantastic engineering and design job on their latest PowerBook line. Notice how virtually nothing changed between PPC and Intel machines - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Still, it's good to have choices, even if they're $449 choices.[via The Apple Blog]
