Here's the sixth episode of PlanetSide 2's war correspondent video series
Have you watched SOE's latest war correspondent video for PlanetSide 2? If not, you'll want to click past the cut for a look-see at some heart-thumping MMOFPS gameplay presented in a news documentary format. Cinematic designer Robert Stoneman narrates the action which includes footage of The Crown and a handful of PS2's 36,000 player outfits.
SOE asks whether your FPS measures up to PlanetSide 2
Can your FPS do this? That's the question of the day as posed by Sony Online Entertainment. It's in reference to the firm's newly released PlanetSide 2 opus, of course, and if the accompanying trailer is any indication, all of the shooters not named PlanetSide or PlanetSide 2 are doomed to answer with an emphatic "no." The clip is short, but it packs nearly everything that's unique about PS2 into its compact running time. Aerial combat? Check. Infantry and ground vehicle combat? Check. SOE shows off new PlanetSide 2 Esamir video
Yesterday we took you on a textual tour of PlanetSide 2's new Esamir continent. Today Sony Online Entertainment has released a new video so that you can actually see it for yourself. Beginning this weekend, the new landmass will be accessible to everyone via the game's external beta. SOE says that Esamir "shield generators won't be disabled as easily, so expect to run an overload process to secure victory." There are also new vehicle and weapon certifications available, as well as new empire-specific sidegrades. Check out the clip after the cut to get up to speed. [Source: SOE press release]
SOE teases a trailer for PlanetSide 2's next trailer
There are trailers, and then there are trailers for trailers. Sony Online Entertainment has released the latter today in support of its upcoming PlanetSide 2 MMOFPS. The clip in question is 46 seconds of CG awesome sauce, but apparently it's just a teaser for the full-length video that will debut on July 25th. It's called Death is No Excuse, and as you might expect, it's full of battlefield hijinks and a deep-voiced trailer guy who seemingly comes standard with every action-charged preview ever made. "War will not determine who is right," he says, "only who is left." Cue the dramatic music (and the fanboy squees) and head past the cut to check it out.
SOE releases PlanetSide 2 alpha gameplay video
Want to see some new PlanetSide 2 gameplay action? We do too, and fortunately Gametrailers has a bit of it in the form of a new video. We use the word "new" loosely here because the footage was filmed earlier this month at GDC, and there's not a whole lot of info contained therein that fans of the game didn't already know. Still, three minutes of gameplay is nothing to sneeze at, and we get a decent look at ground combat, air combat, and various forms of vehicular combat (as well as all the requisite UIs). The clip is narrated by PlanetSide 2 creative director Matt Higby, who provides a layman's introduction to the massive world of Auraxis as well as all the customizable gameplay that Sony Online Entertainment is building into its MMOFPS sequel.
