Pikachu is undoubtedly the most famous Pokémon out there, but as it stands, apparently it isn't the people's favorite. According to the Pokémon General Election 720, the distinct honor of "favorite" Pokémon goes to a very different monster: Greninja.

  • What a Pokemon MMO would be like

This is a column by Kat Bailey dedicated to the analysis of the once beloved Japanese RPG sub-genre. Tune in every Wednesday for thoughts on white-haired villains, giant robots, Infinity+1 swords, and everything else the wonderful world of JRPGs has to offer. Could the Pokemon series translate into a good MMORPG? For fans, the answer is almost always, "Yes. Definitely. It's perfect for the MMO genre. What's taking so long?"When Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 arrive next week – a game I've written about before – someone, somewhere will probably writing a column saying that very thing. But I think it's time that we debunk this idea that a Pokemon MMORPG would automatically be amazing once and for all. Here's the completely hypothetical scenario that would probably happen if a Pokemon MMORPG were to actually be announced.

Wow, really? 13 Pokemon movies? At what point do you think there will be more movies than games? Yeah, we're just kidding -- that'll never happen. There's a trailer available via Filb.de for the 13th film, Phantom Champion Z, past the break. Put your eyes on it and let its splendor wash over you like an awesome wave of awesomeness. Hey, in the least it's got copious amounts of Zorua and Zoroark from Pokémon Black and White, so that's easily worth the click. [Via GoNintendo]

Look, we know the headline kinda endorses cheating and we often err on the less evil side of things, but desperation has left us little choice. It's just that some of us are so damn sick of hearing about how great Griffin's Blissey is. Yeah, we get it, dude -- can't we just eat our peanut butter sandwich in the break room in peace? We don't care about how much damage your Hitmonlee does. That's why the tutorial video on how to cheat using the Pokewalker past the break is such valuable intel for us. So, we've resorted to doing the unthinkable: we're going to play Pokemon. We're going to play and we're going to level up our pokemans so high, it's going to fog up that jerk's glasses and take the breath right out of his lungs. Soon, he will know true pain as he's squashed beneath the scales of our Magikarp. Embarrassment, thy name will soon be Griffin McElroy! [Via Destructoid]

"Interactive screen saver" Pokémon showcase title My Pokémon Ranch will be available in Europe (and presumably Australia) from this Friday on WiiWare, Nintendo has revealed. Whereas normally we have to wait until Friday itself to see what new bits and bobs appear on the PAL region Virtual Console and WiiWare (indeed, we do a weekly post on the subject, as written by some fabulously witty and erudite chap), Ninty broke the news early this week.We reviewed the game when it arrived in the States last month, and it's fair to say that we weren't the biggest fans, mainly because we're all unfeeling sods with hearts as hard as mahogany it lacked substance.[Via Go Nintendo]

  • Pokemon Company CEO: Pokemon is important

Having covered some basically illicit Pokémon content, we'll turn now to more official channels-- it doesn't get more "official" than Pokémon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara. Ishihara believes that a certain franchise is going to win the "hardware war" for Nintendo. Guess which franchise? No, not Clu Clu Land. "The hardware which has Pokémon on it will be the winner," he told Gamespot. Ishihara was also down on multiplatform development, saying that not being able to design around one system's unique features stifles creativity. Amusingly (to us) Ishihara hinted that he had "ideas" for the next Pokémon games. Of course he does! We all do: they're all in the previous games. We love Pokémon, but we are willing to admit that they're pretty much all the same game.[Via Next Generation]
