Pole poll: Your pick to make a Wii pole dancing 'game'
Okay, here's the deal. Remember Peekaboo Pole Dancing, the company which, back in May, confirmed its intent to make a pole dancing game for Wii? It still wants to – only according to MTV Multiplayer, it doesn't actually have anyone to make or publish the thing.Peekaboo rep Simon Kay even went as far as to say, "Please feel free to give a shout out to any developers or publishers who want to give this a crack." So, who exactly should said shout be given out to? There's no guarantee that they'll listen – let alone actually say, "Hey, that's a great idea!" – but we'll be sure to deliver it the next time we speak to your top pick. Wii pole dancing game needs a publisher ... and developer
Remember Peekaboo Pole Dancing's idea to create a Wii exercise game about pole dancing? Of course you do. We all had a laugh, while some of us got very angry about the death of "core games" or whatever. So how far has the game come since then? Well, here's a list of milestones: Announced plans to create pole dancing game A rep for Peekaboo told MTV Multiplayer's Tracey John that they're still looking for someone to make the game, and for someone to distribute it. "We have, however, connected with a company that is manufacturing a peripheral product and we are investigating mutual publishing opportunities." So at least the pole peripheral is coming along. In his appeal for developers and publishers to contact the company, Peekaboo/AT New Media rep Simon Kay said that it "just needs someone with a little nerve." We're actually going to adopt the unpopular position that someone with nerve should take up the challenge. With the right sense of humor, this could turn out spectacularly weird and hilarious. In the wrong hands, it could be both offensive and a junk game.
Midsummer Fun: Ribbon dancing
We've already covered the buffs you can get from the bonfires scattered around Azeroth during the Midsummer Fire Festival, but how about trying a little pole dancing too before you head out? You may remember the Ribbon Poles from past years' Midsummer Fire Festivals. They're still there, and you can still "dance" at them by right clicking on the pole. However, instead of the +30 fire resistance buff of previous years, you'll get a new Ribbon Dance buff that will give you an extra 10% experience bonus from killing monsters. It starts at only a 3 minute duration, but if you dance longer, the duration of the buff will gradually rise to 60 minutes. If you're under level 70, it's well worth the trouble, especially if you combine it with the new buffs from the bonfires. The bonfire buffs will help you kill mobs faster, and the Ribbon Dance buff will get you more experience for each kill. Like I said before, I'm suddenly not sure if I should be saving up Burning Blossoms to buy new treats with my level 70s, or just using all these amazing buffs to level my alts. I may just have to set aside enough time to do both.
Wii pole dancing plans confirmed, fitness to blame
When we first heard of the not-at-all embarrassingly named company Peekaboo Pole Dancing's apparent plans to bring a pole dancing game to the Wii, the whole thing smacked of a better-late-than-never April Fools' prank. Not so, according to MTV Multiplayer blog, which asked the purveyors of the "Peekaboo Pole Dancing Kit" and the Carmen Electra-endorsed "Electra-pole" the question that just had to be asked: Why?Peekaboo rep Simon Kay told the blog that the idea behind bringing what he calls "aerobic pole dancing " to the Wii is "all about fun and fitness." According Kay, Peekaboo wants the game "to do for pole dancing what Guitar Hero did for rock n roll!" We can't help but imagine that the game will finally give gaming couples with an eye for rhythm a means to use their 'star power' for an added -- not to mention motion sensitive -- relationship spark.
Rumor: Wii 'Peekaboo Pole Dancing' pitched
Peekaboo Pole Dancing is currently seeking partners to license its "make me a private dancer" product for Wii, reports Tech Digest. The company famous for its "Peekaboo Pole Dancing Kit" and celebrity-endorsed "Electra Pole" has apparently reached out to the gaming industry at large through an email pitching its would-be game.While Nintendo is not likely to follow up its Balance Board with the "Posture Pole," or Wii Fit with "Wii Strip," there's certainly a market for Peekaboo's proposal: a way for mommy and daddy to stay connected after the kiddies are tucked in; or the after-party for Wii Sports Bowling Night at the Senior Center. Though with STDs on the rise throughout the retirement community, Wii Strip may be one gimmick Nintendo is prepared to shy away from (let's not further encourage our performance enhancing drug-addicted elders, amirite?). One thing's for sure: Nintendo draws the line when it comes to the corruption of the old people.
