Video game retailer GameStop has introduced several changes to its PowerUp Rewards customer loyalty program, announcing that it will reward members with monthly perks in addition to discounts on used games. Starting this month, customers will receive a buy-two-get-one coupon after signing up or renewing a Power-Up Rewards Pro membership, entitling them to a free used game or accessory with their next purchase of two or more pre-owned items. Members will also get at least $50 in monthly offers as part of the revamped program. Customers currently receive an additional $50 in store credit when trading in a PlayStation Vita until October 31, and $50 off pre-owned smartphones starting on October 8. GameStop additionally launched a PowerUp Rewards-branded credit card this week, giving customers access to bonus reward points and in-store financing. Card variable APR starts at 26.99%, with a minimum $2 interest charge per credit plan. [Image: GameStop]

Have you ever wanted to be silently murdered by Sam Fisher? You might have the chance to watch your wish play out onscreen, thanks to GameStop's "Epic Rewards" contest. The contest, entered by taking part in any transaction with a PowerUp Rewards card, grants one winner a trip to Ubisoft Toronto to meet the team, who will put said winner's likeness into Splinter Cell: Blacklist. There's no guarantee you'll be killed by Sam Fisher, sorry. It seems likely, though you might be cast as one of his allies.

If you pre-order Final Fantasy XIII-2 from GameStop, you'll get an exclusive costume for Serah. If you pre-order the game and you're a PowerUp Rewards member, you'll get her "Genji Bow" weapon as well. It's retroactive, so if you meet both of those conditions and pick up the game before February 2, the bow is yours. There's no word on whether you'll be able to switch this weapon from bow to sword form in real time, or what magnitude of damage it will do to giant enemy crabs. Square Enix did, however, say it allows players to attack more frequently.

  • Arkham City's Animated Series Batman skin is exclusive for GameStop PowerUp Rewards members

That stylish Animated Series Batman skin (complete with the white triangles for eyes) is now officially, and apparently only available as an exclusive from GameStop, according to information on the company's store. Players who have a PowerUp Rewards membership (that card and Game Informer subscription GameStop's employees are always trying to sell you) will get access to the skin, a replica from the classic 1990s Batman: The Animated Series. Of course, Kevin Conroy, who voices the Bat in the games, started his tenure as the World's Greatest Detective in the series, so putting his voice and this costume together again will be a nice homecoming for fans. There was also a rumor going around that the same skin would be a GAME exclusive overseas, but that company is apparently offering Robin as a playable character, a bonus already revealed for Best Buy in the US. In other words, pick your pre-orders carefully out there, people. [Thanks, Alan!]

If you're uncomfortable with GameStop's tenacity as it pursues your reservations and trade-ins, you'll probably be displeased to learn that "pre-order pokes" could be coming in the near future. The gargantuan games retailer recently opened up a Facebook storefront, through which shoppers can purchase and reserve titles, view trailers and screenshot galleries and, in the near future, earn and redeem PowerUp Rewards points. Between this and GameStop's recent acquisition of Impulse and Spawn Labs, it seems the retailer's taking its new digital strategy pretty seriously. We wouldn't be surprised to see if the company adopted a presence on LiveJournal, as well. We'd be curious to learn what its mood is like on a day-to-day basis, as well as what hot bands it's totally into right now.

Card-carrying members of GameStop's PowerUp Rewards program will find an additional incentive going forward, beginning with the launch of Portal 2 this month. Any PowerUp member who makes a trade-in or purchase at their local GameStop or online at GameStop.com in April will be entered into a drawing for a life-sized Atlas bot (the little guy in the foreground above), along with a framed copy of the game signed by the folks at Valve. This kicks off a planned monthly incentive program, though exact details of what's on offer after April are a mystery at this time. For all of the fine print, head on over to the Epic Rewards site. Update: This article erroneously suggested that this GameStop program had just launched. We apologize for the error.

GameStop has announced that its PowerUp Rewards program, which offers various bonuses to card-carrying loyal customers, is now available in all retail locations across the country. For those who missed the specifics of the program when it was dreamed up earlier this year, customers can now sign up for a free or a $15-per-year "Pro" membership -- both give Rewards points (exchangeable for gift cards, Netflix or Xbox Live subscriptions and other freebies), but only the latter comes with a discount on pre-owned goods and a subscription to Game Informer magazine. To celebrate the program's nationwide rollout, GameStop has gussied up its NASCAR ride with a sweet custom paint job, featuring an airbrushed wizard and some fire and ... well, just the name of the program, actually. Which is less exciting. Perhaps they could add the chart posted after the jump, which breaks down the two tiers of PowerUp Rewards membership, as a bitchin' decal?

The GameStop "PowerUp Rewards" beta has launched in "select areas," according to its website, which details the retailer's previoulsy proposed, new loyalty card program. PowerUp Rewards offers two memberships: a free version and a $15 "Pro" version. The free option entitles card holders to 10 Rewards "points" per dollar spent on new games and consoles, and 20 points per dollar spent on used purchases or earned through trade-ins. The Pro choice adds a buy two, get one free "welcome offer," 10 percent discounts and bonus points on various transactions, and a one-year Game Informer subscription. (The two enrollment options are more fully compared in the handy chart after the break). Points can be put towards various rewards, including gift cards and Netflix subscriptions. Additionally, all PowerUp Rewards members receive "exclusive" offers, which could include special sales, early beta access to certain titles or invitations to events. A Kotaku tipster told the site that the program is currently available in Ohio, Tennessee and Missouri, though GameStop recently said the beta program would feature "four regions" and roll out in full this fall. If you're a GameStop employee or new PowerUp Rewards member with more information on the program, we'd love to hear from you. [Via Kotaku]
