Japanese game and CGI animation studio Premium Agency has announced (PDF) that it has appointed Shenmue and Virtua Fighter maestro Yu Suzuki as an advisor and executive producer. Suzuki will oversee the studio's newly strengthened development team, covering a wide range of social and mobile projects. Suzuki will also oversee the development of a Kinect-enabled fighting game. While a Kinect fighter involving Suzuki is certainly intriguing, we'd like to pitch another idea: Kinect Space Harrier. Think about it, Mr. Suzuki. Think about it hard.

  • Naruto transforms into inevitable co-op game for PSP

There's a reason why every PSP game seemingly has four player co-op play nowadays: Monster Hunter. Capcom struck a gold mine by bringing the franchise to Sony's handheld, and Japanese developers have tried -- over and over again -- to replicate that success. Phantasy Star Portable, God Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker are just a few of the titles that have attempted to follow the formula. Naruto Shippuden: Kizuna Drive is Namco Bandai's anime ninja flavored variation, and it's coming to the US in Spring 2011, nearly a year since its original July release in Japan. Unlike the Storm series, Kizuna Drive is developed by Premium Agency. In addition to featuring an "all new story" with "game-exclusive characters," Kizuna Drive will have one more bonus Naruto fans will probably appreciate: a theme song, sung by Naruto's voice actor, Junko Takeuchi. click for screen-filling gore In the wake contrails of 0 Day Attack on Earth's December 23 release, Square Enix has announced that its next XBLA title, Death By Cube -- also a twin-stick, multidirectional shooter -- will be the new kid on the Live Marketplace block when it arrives on January 20. Seeming to draw inspiration from arcade classics such as Robotron and Smash T.V., the Premium Agency developed title is easily the most gore-filled Square Enix release, er ... ever, pitting players against cube-shaped enemies (getting the title yet?) that just happen to explode into bloody messes when killed. We went hands-on with the game at Tokyo Game Show 2009 and were pleasantly surprised by its smattering of unique play mechanics on top of a fairly done-to-death formula. Of course, you'll be able to judge it for yourself by downloading the trial version. If you like it, you can simply commute the demo to a full Death sentence. %Gallery-70583%
