When the above game arrived at Fanboy HQ, we hastily opened it to see if Namco's budget title would be worth its weight in gold, so to speak. Then, some stuff happened and we never got around to playing it enough for a review, that is until now. With time finally allowing us to take the game for a prolonged spin round the block, we've done our fair share of "quickspotting" and are ready to review the game. It's fairly evident from the beginning that the game isn't going to give you much bang for your buck, considering that some of the spot challenges repeat as frequently as in the very next challenge. For example, our first play through had us going into the game's Rapid Play mode, asking us to go through several different pictures of escalating difficulty and spot the difference. The problem was, though, that one challenge where we were shown two different cars, which took up a bit of the screen and was very obvious to the player, had repeated 3 times in a row, through challenge level one, two and three.

NamcoBandai just sent us a press release stating that its game Quickspot has gone gold and is expected to meet its date with retail shelves in the U.S. on March 13th. For those unaware, Quickspot is a title where players must spot the differences between a pair of seemingly identical images. Time is of the essence, as players must not only have eyes as sharp as an eagle's, but be fast with the stylus as they mark the differences on the dual-screen handheld's touch-screen. The game is to release with a MSRP of $19.99 US.Check past the post break for the press release, if you're into that sort of thing.[via press release]

  • Find the differences between Quickspot and this new San-X game

Hint: there aren't many. San-X no Chara Sagashi Land (San-X Character Searching Land) offers the exact same kind of gameplay as Quickspot, with San-X trappings. San-X, for those of you who don't follow the Adorable Junk scene, is a sub-label of Hello Kitty creators Sanrio whose characters are ... different enough in some inscrutable way to be separate from the main brand. So, instead of getting to look at two nearly-identical Katamari Damacy images (sigh) and drawing circles around the differences, you'll be scrutinizing Tarepanda the sleepy panda, Kogepan, the anthropomorphic bread who has depression, and others. And for your troubles you get a gallery of mascot images. Of the same characters you were just staring at.We don't mean to sound down on the game-- we're actually really surprised at what new genres the DS design is encouraging. There may have been 'look at two things at once and spot the differences' games before, but the DS is absolutely perfect for them. We've included a few precious screens after the break.

NamcoBandai sent us over some new footage for their upcoming title Quickspot, giving us all a better idea of how the final product will be. We already knew the game was going to be a time-based affair where the player needs to spot differences in two pictures, but we didn't know that it would look so fun. With the right price, we could easily find ourselves adding this title to our library. The trailer has been embedded past the post break for ye olde convenience.

  • Quickspot hits us quick with some videos

A pair of fresh trailers for Quickspot have been uploaded over at IGN, giving us a better sense of direction in regards to where this game is headed. Just about the same thing as those games in the corner of the bar that ask you to spot the differences in two pictures, we imagine Quickspot will be a lot cheaper solution to those of you who like to spend almost all of your paycheck on those things. Of course, IGN doesn't allow their videos to be embedded, so you'll have to head here to get an eyeful.

Hot off the press wire, word comes to us that Namco-Bandai has a new game in the works for the DS called Quickspot. Releasing this Spring, the game is to be a full-on compare-and-contrast game. See, the two screens are to display almost identical images, and the player must circle the differences on the touch-screen. Makoto Iwai, Executive Vice President and COO at NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. goes on to say Quickspot "offers hours of fun for those with quick minds and fast reflexes as it takes a simple concept and turns it into an exciting and addicting brain game perfectly suited for gamers on the go." Personally, we worry if the game will have enough depth, as the release states it will contain only three single player modes, which include Rapid Play (5 levels each containing 10 stages) , Focus Mode (140 different pictures with 10 differences each) and Today's Fortune (provides health, study, romance and money fortune for the day). We've included several screenshots past the post break.[Via press release]
