  • Wild West Guns: shoot guns at the Wild West

First seen as a mysterious title in the ESRB's database, new screens of Wild West Guns show the game to be ... pretty much exactly what we would have guessed: a Western-themed light gun game. Like Mad Dog McCree, but with less grainy video and more blocky polygons. The 1,000 Wii Point WiiWare game will support four players in cooperative and competitive modes, and will include Zapper compatibility (remember the Zapper?). It also supports feelings of guilt over the adversarial depiction of Native Americans, and rationalizations about such treatment being a staple of the Western genre. That will be somewhat less salient when Wild West Guns comes out in Japan on July 22. Maybe that's why Gameloft revealed it to the Japanese press first.

  • Capcom to release Umbrella Chronicles bundle in Korea, not U.S.

As it did in Japan, publisher Capcom will be releasing a Biohazard/Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles Zapper bundle on June 20th in Korea for ???55,000 (approximately $52.50). No word yet on whether any bonuses will be thrown in with early preorders, but it's very likely! Why don't these third-party bundles ever make it stateside? You'd think that Capcom, a company that has repackaged and sold to us the same game several dozen times in just three years, would be thrilled to thrust upon us yet another box bearing the Resident Evil logo! What's so great about Korea that they should get this package, and not us?%Gallery-3286%

  • The House of the Novelty Costumes

If you think you're done with your copy of The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return, you may be in for a surprise! Sega released these videos of secret modes available in both games contained on the disc. We believe these costumes are unlocked through House of the Dead 2's Original Mode minigame, and it is totally worth the time to unlock the nice old lady costume seen here.Bruno Delinger, star of Dynamite Deka (which was released over here as Die Hard Arcade with John McClane as the protagonist), has been unlockable in The House of the Dead 2 since the Dreamcast version. It's a somewhat little-known bonus, and we still find it humorously out of place. The last video features The House of the Dead 3's Extreme Mode, in which you have to shoot specific weak points on zombies to take them down.

  • Zero Punctuation sinks its teeth into Umbrella Chronicles

This week on Zero Punctuation, gaming misanthrope Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw tackles Wii rail shooter Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. While the acidic one lays into the shamelessly cheesy dialogue and concludes that Capcom's title is "a rather unnecessary game that gaming history will swiftly forget," he also admits the game has "a charming retro feel."The entire review is embedded after the break, but remember, kids: this is Zero Punctuation, and so NSFW.

  • Ghost Squad advert has PS3 shooter in its sights

Ghost Squad, as we've already seen, is not afraid of being different. It's also not afraid of standing up for itself and picking on bigger games, when the need arises; games such as the PlayStation 3's Resistance: Fall of Man. The print advert above, for example, has been seen in various German magazines in recent weeks. And if we were being completely honest, we'd totally buy Resistance: Fall of Mandy.[Via Go Nintendo]

  • A Simple addition to the zombie rail-shooting genre

Most Simple series games betray their low-budgetness in fairly obvious ways: crap graphics and either boring (mah-jongg) or insane premises. They also tend to be direct copies of other more popular games. Simple DS Vol. 32 THE Zombie Panic looks like pretty much the same concept as Touch the Dead, which is, uh, pretty much the same concept as The House of the Dead -- "shoot at some zombies."But where THE Zombie Panic diverges from its DS contemporary is that, well, it's got a sword in it. That's, like, a paradigm shift for zombie-shooting games. We'll take the dual-wielding as well. There's something suspicious about a fully-3D first-person game like this being made for the Simple series. We suspect that Dream Factory was originally doing this for another publisher who canned the project.

  • Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles is looking purdy

We've been showing you a lot of Ghost Squad videos lately, but that's no reason to forget the other rail shooter coming out this season. As you can see from the video above (which is titled "The Opening Video," but it's probably just a trailer), the game looks mighty fine, indeed. Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles is set for release on November 13, which we know will put some more hurt on a lot of wallets. We're definitely interested, at least.

We apologize in advance for dropping more Ghost Squad media onto your lap, but this newest video features ninjas, and our love for ninjas is outstripped only by our zeal for zombies ... and Batman. While this unlockable mode for Sega's rail shooter doesn't have any bikini-clad women or porpoise pistols, it does have plenty of ninjas, ninjas, and more frickin' ninjas. Specifically, ninjas with submachine guns. What sort of stealth assassins need firearms? And what ever happened to Michael Dudikoff? We may never know ...

  • Nothing screams 'Rabbids' like a plunger to the face

The last time we brought you Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 gameplay videos, there was nary a plunger to be found. Fortunately, these new trailers from IGN show us that the rail-shooter minigame has returned.Despite the fact that we thoroughly enjoy shooting stuff with plungers, especially crazy bunnies, we have to say that these videos just didn't do much for us. Maybe it's because the one embedded above reminds us of being forced to sit in the front row at a movie theater. Maybe it was the pacing, or the lack of music. Then again, perhaps we're over this whole rabbid thing.Don't get us wrong, we still love the little buggers ... but whatever it is, something is just off. Are we cranky today, or do you feel the same way?By the way, more plunger videos are embedded after the jump.

  • Treasure considers Sin and Punishment sequel

If you shelled out the cash to buy Sin and Punishment on your Virtual Console, then you already know how awesome it is. If not, we've deployed some hypnotoads to find you and make you buy the game, so be prepared. Now that we've sufficiently shoved the game down your throat communicated the brilliance of this game to you, excuse us while we squeal for a few seconds at the mere possibility of a sequel on the Wii. After all, we're only human (and part robot). The source of our glee, you wonder? When asked about a possible sequel to Sin and Punishment, Treasure president Masato Maegawa told Nintendo Power, "When we were originally working on Sin and Punishment [for Virtual Console], there was some discussion utilizing Wii-like controls, and I think now that we're working more with the Wii, it is something we'd very much like to try."We have just one message for you, Treasure: NOBODY LIKES A TEASE!

  • Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles has co-op, duh?

We get very confused when there's "news" that we swore we knew before ... but apparently we didn't know it, maybe? The latest bit in that department is Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles has two player co-op. Apparently this is news to everyone else, so we'll just say it aloud. Considering every scene in the game has two agents and we could have sworn seeing photos with a second targeting reticle, we thought it was implied. So, yeah, Resident Evil: UC has two player co-op ... once again, we thought we knew this already. Then again, it could just be because most rail shooters have co-op and it seemed odd not to have it. Even our man who tested it at the Capcom event was surprised by the news being, well, "news."Sometimes stuff like this happens. Assassin's Creed being for the Xbox 360 is one of the clearest examples. It was actually bigger news that it wasn't for the Xbox 360. Haze is an even more recent example because when we talked to the developers last year at E3 the PS3 wasn't even out yet and the game was being made for PC and Xbox 360. The news that it would be pseudo-exclusive for the PS3 was just silly ... that was later revised -- then revised again. Listen, when the companies can't keep track of what they're doing with their own games, we can understand how confusion comes into the mix. So, RE: UC has two player co-op, apparently that's news to us.
