The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask will get a re-release in spring 2015 for Nintendo 3DS and 2DS, Nintendo announced today during a Nintendo Direct livestream. The game's predecessor, Ocarina of Time, got its own 3DS remake in 2011. First launching in 2000 for Nintendo 64, a Majora's Mask remake has been teased for some time, notably in November 2011 when series producer Eiji Aonuma deemed the 3D version a possibility. Fans in Europe will be able to pick up a special edition of the game, which will include a steelbook case, pin badge and two-sided poster. [Image: Nintendo]

  • Pokemon Omega/Alpha 'dual pack' has healing powers [Update]

Nintendo is packaging both versions of its upcoming Pokemon remake together, though the benefit to buying both games in one box isn't monetary. While both Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will debut next month for $40 each, the "dual pack" bundle will still cost $80. The catch to Nintendo's two-for-two-in-different-packaging deal is that both games come with individual download codes that give players 100 potions in each game, making the familiar journey a tad easier. Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire were announced for 3DS in May as "fresh takes" on the 2003 Game Boy Advance games. Like last year's Pokemon X and Y, the games feature a load of mega-evolved versions of existing 'mon. Players can still obtain a download code to access the game's demo in the next few days by purchasing one of a handful of apps or games. Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will launch on November 21. Update: As a minor point of clarification, the dual pack is exclusive to Best Buy stores. [Image: Nintendo]

The final Halo 2 map being remade for the Halo: The Master Chief Collection is Warlock, Microsoft announced today. The multiplayer map was itself a remake of the Wizard map from Halo: Combat Evolved. Warlock, now known as "Warlord," joins five other multiplayer maps from Halo 2 that will return in the The Master Chief Collection: Ascension, Coagulation, Lockout, Sanctuary and Zanzibar. The map will include "additional cover, new skill jumps, and a new weapon in the center," according to Certain Affinity President Max Hoberman, former multiplayer lead designer for the original version of Halo 2. Microsoft first revealed the collection during its E3 2014 press event in June following rumors of the bundle's existence in May. Halo: The Master Chief Collection packs together Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 4, and is Xbox One exclusive. It will also include formerly PC-exclusive maps from the first two games. The collection will launch on November 11. [Image: Microsoft]

If you want an in-depth look at how Resident Evil's mansion has evolved over the last decade, Capcom has released a new series of comparison screenshots highlighting the differences between the previously-released GameCube version of Resident Evil and the upcoming Xbox 360 remake. Capcom's screens showcase a significant improvement in graphical detail, with the new cross-platform release boasting improved textures and an overall increase in clarity. The giant snake boss looks much more intimidating this time around, and background details that blurred together on the GameCube are now crisp and distinct. Capcom released its first batch of side-by-side shots back in August, and last month saw the launch of a brief teaser trailer. Capcom's remake of Resident Evil will launch for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PS4, and PC platforms via Steam in 2015. [Image: Capcom]

Nintendo will offer a demo version of Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire prior to the games' launches, according to its official site. The "early visit" to the games' Hoenn region will include "gameplay that you won't experience anywhere else," as well as a familiar Pokemon that is capable of Mega Evolving. Those that play the demo will be able to transfer said creature in addition to reward items to the full version of the game. Nintendo did not specify when the demo would be made available, but did mention that fans will be able to play it as many times as they like (some 3DS demos are limited in the number of times they can be accessed). The demo will also feature "special scenarios that occur if you play every day." Nintendo will reveal instructions on how players can obtain a code in the near future. The Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire remakes will launch November 21 for 3DS. [Image: Nintendo]

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, the twin-stick shooter's total remake for consoles, will launch November 4. Nicalis flashed gameplay clips and the release date for the remake in a new disturbing trailer, which has since been pulled from public view on YouTube. The developer teased that an announcement for the game was imminent on Twitter. The Binding of Isaac first launched on PC in September 2011, and Rebirth was originally discussed by creator Edmund McMillen in November 2012. The console port was previously expected to arrive in early 2014, but will hit PS4, Vita and Steam now in November. Rebirth was also originally planned for PS3 and 3DS, though the latter was disallowed by Nintendo due to the game's religious content. As of July, McMillen did not rule out an eventual appearance by Isaac on the 3DS eShop. [Image: Nicalis]

A remake of the original Metal Gear - not Metal Gear Solid, for clarity - that reportedly featured David Hayter reprising his years-long role as Solid Snake has been shut down, according to Metal Gear Informer. The site reports that a producer on the game told them that "the guys over at Konami couldn't agree on a decision so [they] had no choice but to shut us down." Although fans of the 1987 MSX top-down stealth game won't get to relive Solid Snake's mission to take down Outer Heaven, they can still experience a sample of what the team had planned by checking out a recently-released trailer featuring David Hayter - or at least someone doing a spot-on impersonation of him. Ah, the bitter taste of what could have been. [Image: Outer Heaven Productions]

An upgraded version of 2007's dungeon-crawling RPG Etrian Odyssey 2: Heroes of Lagaard will premiere for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan later this year, Japanese publication Famitsu reports. Like its updated predecessor Etrian Odyssey Untold, the Etrian Odyssey 2 remake will feature a story mode that replaces player-chosen party members with a default character cast. The 3DS upgrade also boasts new animated sequences and voice acting, along with a new mechanic that allows characters to transform during battle for stat boosts. Etrian Odyssey 2 is slated to hit the 3DS in Japan this winter. Responding to questions regarding the possibility of a North American release, an Atlus representative told IGN that it currently has "nothing to announce for the United States." [Video: Atlus]

  • Knock-Knock dev plagues us with Pathologic teaser [Update]

Dear Knock-Knock developer Ice Pick Lodge, stop freaking us out already. We know you discussed a revival of your 2005 psychological horror game Pathologic back in December, but we didn't think you were serious about it. Now you have this live-action teaser trailer called "Feverish Feeling," and we weren't sure what to think once we saw it. It turns out that feeling is pretty creepy, and not the sort of fever we were hoping for. Knock-Knock was one thing, and we kept our lights on a good four months after that, but now you're talking about The Black Death pandemic and putting viewers in a simulated, contaminated environment to force them to make decisions quickly. Pathologic made us complete quests to find the source of The Sand Plague and make decisions that impacted its meta-narrative. Based on the countdown timer ticking away on your teaser site, we'll learn more about this reanimation on Friday, September 4. Update: Pathologic's teaser countdown ends on September 4, not August 29. We've adjusted the article accordingly. [Image: Ice Pick Lodge]

The remake of LucasArts' cult favorite adventure game Grim Fandango will also arrive on PC, Mac and Linux in addition to PS4 and Vita. Grim Fandango's resurgence was first revealed during Sony's E3 2014 press conference in June; the game is a console exclusive for the PlayStation platforms. Double Fine's remake came about thanks to some snooping on the behalf of Adam Boyes, PlayStation's VP of Publisher Relations. Boyes told Joystiq at E3 that Double Fine head Tim Schafer caught him nosing around the studio's older intellectual properties, which sparked a conversation between the two about bringing Grim Fandango back from the dead. When will players in North America get to see the new race being added to Allods Online? It's hard to say. It's easier to say when they'll see the next major update to the game, however, as the Colors of War update is already live for the Russian server and is being localized for North America and European players now. So you can expect it within a month or so. And what does it contain? Like the name says, war. Players will be able to explore a revamped Kingdom of Elements with several redesigned battle points as well as a new variant style of capture-the-flag in the Training Grounds. The Raid Dominion system has also undergone extensive remaking, adding in new elements like gun mounts to change the face of these battles. That's in addition to major class changes for Wardens and a revamp of the old Tika-Rek's cave. Check out the patch trailer just past the break. [Thanks to K for the tip!]

The Goonies may have been good enough for Cyndi Lauper, but not for Sloth Team, a group of dedicated fans who have recreated Datasoft's ZX Spectrum adaptation of the 1985 film for modern PCs with new aesthetics and additional content. Unlike the more popular NES Goonies game, which was a typical platformer, Datasoft's attempt at the license sees players controlling two of the Goonies as they solve puzzles necessary to move from room to room. Highlights of this new version of The Goonies include wholly new graphics, new music and additional stages. Best of all, the remake is available as a free download for anyone with a PC or Linux machine and functional Internet connection. At Sloth Team's official site you'll find both a demo and the full version of the game at the always attractive price of "absolutely free." [Image: Sloth Team]

Indie developer Fresh3D recently launched a Kickstarter project to fund a high-definition remake of Outcast, the 1999 Infogrames-published PC adventure game. The open-world game will feature re-designed objects, textures, environments and characters, each made from scratch to run in 1080p HD at 60 frames per second. The developer is targeting $600,000 by Wednesday, May 7, to fund the game. So far it's achieved more than $140,000. Fresh3D includes three designers from Appeal, the developer of the original cult classic adventure game: Yann Robert, Franck Sauer and Yves Grolet. Grolet is involved in the project as a gameplay advisor, while Robert and Sauer are technical and creative directors, respectively. The three designers purchased the rights to Outcast in July 2013. In fact, Lionhead writes that physical copies are being created "as we speak." That means that soon, they'll also be ready to be shipped, sold and played. Barring any unfortunate complications or mishaps, we should be ready to explore Albion again on February 4. Lionhead also announced the game's pre-order bonuses: a pirate outfit with sword, a guard outfit with Jackarse fish weapon, and an outfit based on the character Apollo with crossbow. The post didn't yet specify which retailer will be getting which bonus, but it did state that the pre-order bonuses will be made available for purchase "later in the year."

The PS3 version of the remastered compilation was delayed to March 18, 2014 in North America and March 21 in Europe with details of the Vita version's new release date yet to come. It's difficult to decide which is more appealing in this new gameplay trailer for Soul Calibur 2 HD Online: The overwhelming wave of nostalgia it generates for 3D fighting games circa the turn of the last century, or the enhanced visual fidelity which ushers these decade-old character models into the modern age.
