Ryo Hazuki, leather-clad everyman and forklift-racer extraordinaire from the Shenmue series, has come racing onto the PC version of Sonic And Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed. Ryo debuted in the mobile port of Transformed, but his arrival on PC marks his first appearance in the game on a home platform. Whether this means he'll also be making a pit stop on consoles, 3DS and Vita is unknown. Instead of going for a more realistic approach and placing Ryo atop his signature motorcycle or inside a forklift - as was the case in the original Sonic And Sega All-Stars Racing - Ryo gets to show his '80s heritage by piloting modified arcade cabinets. Ryo rides a Hang-On cabinet on water, an OutRun cabinet on land, and a Space Harrier cabinet in the air. He's available now for $1.59 on Steam.

Ryo Hazuki, protagonist of Sega's Shenmue series, is being adapted into a statue that captures the full emotional range of the character – by which we mean it is completely devoid of emotion. Ryo Hazuki is the first in the Sega All Stars range from premium collectibles maker First4Figures. The one-foot-tall representation of the martial arts student/occasional dock worker comes in two variants: a $170 regular edition and a $185 "Exclusive" version with a base modeled after the sought-after "Phoenix Mirror" relic from the game. The figures are up for pre-order, due to ship in Q4. Just think, boxes of these will be moved in and out of warehouses by forklift.%Gallery-187299%

  • Limited Edition Ryo Hazuki figurine will lift your spirits

Or momentarily distract you from that gaping, Shenmue-shaped hole in your heart. Although most doctors agree that the unfortunate condition is chronic, some symptoms (which include: forlorn sighing; naive bursts of optimism on Shenmue 3 message boards) can be addressed with a modicum of effort. Example: Staring at a Limited Edition Hazuki-in-a-forklift figurine. For six hours. Those looking to implement slightly more permanent treatment can attempt to win the depicted prize through a sweet Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing sweepstakes setup. Since it's only open to U.S. residents and is limited to 950 figurines in total, however, you probably won't ever win. And Shenmue 3 won't ever come out. And we'll never find out what happened with Lan Di or the Dragon Mirror. Oh yeah, that's the other symptom: straight-up depression. Thanks for nothing, you stupid, unattainable figurine.

  • Now you'll have to buy Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing

Just when you thought he'd finally get around to avenging his father's death, Ryo Hazuki has appended one more thing to his lackadaisical to-do list: "Appear as a playable competitor in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing." It seems Sega might have a lucky hit (how about it?) on its hands, especially if the compulsion to purchase any new Shenmue-related material -- no matter how tactlessly integrated -- is as strong with you as it is with us. Of course, one can hope (in vain) that Ryo and his forklift follow a similar trajectory to Rocket Knight, first appearing as an undignified cameo and then a proper protagonist. Expect to make your grudging purchase of All-Stars Racing sometime in 2010, henceforth referred to as the day of the incident.%Gallery-74933%
