Gig ticket sellers should learn from Dice's new refund option

Now in its third year, UK gig app Dice has made a name for itself by selling tickets for some of the world's biggest music acts without additional overheads. There are no booking fees and tickets are tightly linked to an account, meaning all you need to do is pay the listing price and show your phone at the door. The process all but eliminates scalpers, but getting your money back when you can't make a gig hasn't been especially easy. With Refund Tickets, however, Dice has introduced a new button for sold out gigs that gives you your money back if someone on the waiting list wants to take it off your hands.

  • BlizzCon tickets already on eBay

The first batch of tickets to this year's BlizzCon in Anaheim sold out less than thirty minutes after they became available on Blizzard's Battle.Net store. While some buyers included sincere conference attendees such as our own Matt Low, the latest crop of goods over at eBay might provide another insight as to why the tickets fizzled so fast. A quick scan of BlizzCon items already include the goody bags from the August event, highlighted by Grunty, the Murloc Marine. Some are also selling tickets outright, with some auctions already going over $800.It's a testament to the popularity of Blizzard and their games that the first wave of BlizzCon tickets has sold out yet again this year, and damning evidence of the lengths some people will go to make a buck. In this frazzled economy, who can blame them? Grunty, the Murloc Marine, that's who! Grunty doesn't appreciate being put in the black market like some dead fish! At any rate, congratulations to those of you who were able to score tickets (and actually plan on using them). The good news is that the rest of us who clicked too slowly this round can look forward to another wave of tickets on the 30th. The bad news is that those scalpers are going to be waiting to click right along with us.

  • Nintendo DSi off to a flyer in Japan

Famitsu publisher Enterbrain has reeled in the first Nintendo DSi hardware sales figures, revealing that the console has gone down a storm in Japan, with 170,779 DSi handhelds sold over the first two days. So much for Japan not being hyped for the thing! As we mentioned in passing yesterday, the DS Lite took three days to sell 68,438 consoles, but it appears Nintendo has learned from Lite shortages, and shipped many more DSi units (200,000, to be precise). Our congratulations and barely concealed, envious glare to those who bagged themselves a console.Even though Japan's public is evidently totally hot for the DSi, Siliconera reports that people aren't exactly panic-buying yet; one evil scalper purchased fifty of the consoles, and is now struggling to reap any profit whatsoever from them on Yahoo! Auctions. And that, my friends, is the beauty of karma. Har.Source: 170,779 DSis sold ... Source: ... including fifty to this guy.%Gallery-33263%

Earlier this morning we received word that a pair of E3 badges was being auctioned on eBay. According to our tipster, the starting bid was $300. Unfortunately, the auction was pulled before we could get a look. However, moments ago, we were tipped off by another reader who had discovered a similar sale on craigslist. As it turns out, it's the same pair of badges, now being offered for $1,000! Here's the post:"I have a pair of E3 Badges I am selling. I had these posted on Ebay but the ESA pulled the auction. Purchasing these will get you onto the show floor of E3 2006. My manager and I will fly down to L.A. and pick up the badge holders with our ID's. You will not have to show ID at any point from there on out. Our travel expenses are included in the badge price. The pair of badges is $1000 obo. Please email me with any questions. Thanks. "What's a chance to be the first on your block to see the PS3 and Revolution in action worth to you and a friend?[Thanks, T & Eric]
