Somewhere, at the heart of this video, there exists a game. It's clear to us that there are two opposing forces shooting at one another. We can see that, and it's something we support. What we're having trouble grasping, however, is everything else. At one point in the video, one mech becomes a massive giant. The other mech subsequently transforms into what appears to be an airplane. WarTech: Senko no Ronde is, without a doubt, one of the more unique games available for the Xbox 360. Often described as a 2D Virtual On, it looks like it could be pretty fun. The only thing we question is Ubisoft's decision to put a $60 price tag on what is essentially a Dreamcast game (Senko no Ronde was created on Naomi, an arcade board based on Dreamcast hardware).Would you be willing to pay $60 for Senko no Ronde? What if Ubisoft lowered the price?

The thin gaming trickle of spring continues this week with yet another movie tie-in (last week we got Shrek the Third). This week we get the Depp-tastic Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. We're generally leery of any movie tie-ins, especially those that launch simultaneously with the associated film (the third Pirates movie also opens this week), and this time is no different. While the screens and movies we've seen of the game show off decent character models and some very nice animation, they also show off what appears to be generally ho-hum gameplay. We'll just have to wait and see if the game, ahem, holds water. On a more positive note for lovers of Japanese games, the Ubisoft localization of Senko no Ronde, retitled WarTech: Senko no Ronde, also debuts this week. Apparently Marvel: Ultimate Alliance Gold failed to properly hit the shelves last week, as it is listed again this week. For an ultimate alliance, they sure have trouble getting their act together.%Gallery-3339%[Via Joystiq]

Having appeared in the ESRB database last week, we concluded that Senko no Ronde was heading stateside. Ubisoft has done us one better and has made the game official. Ubisoft will be publishing the G.rev developed title, now renamed WarTech: Senko no Ronde. The game features a single player story mode as well as online multiplayer. There are 8 different mechs in the game, each with 2 variations plus an unlockable B.O.S.S. mode that adds another 8 variations, making 24 in total. The press release proudly boasts that Famitsu awarded Senko no Ronde with a gold medal and "lauded its amazing blend of shoot-em-up action and fighting".Ubisoft will bring WarTech: Senko no Ronde to North America and Europe this May.

  • Senko No Ronde coming stateside?

Our compatriots at Joystiq did a little sleuthing and discovered that an ESRB listing has popped up for a Japanese title by the name of Senko No Ronde, renamed Battle Storm: Senko No Ronde for the states (search "battle" on the ESRB website). Described by Joystiq as something of a 2-D restricted version of the Virtual On series, the game presents players with mechs battling it out in space, complete with tons of on screen projectiles. The game is based on the Naomi arcade board, which was the arcade version of Dreamcast hardware, so the game is fairly dated in the visuals department. Battle Storm is listed as an Ubisoft title by the ESRB. Here's hoping Ubisoft has the sense to release the game at a budget price. For some screens of the game, check out this old preview from TeamXbox.

Best described as a sexy, cocaine-fueled Virtual On gone 2-D, Senko no Ronde is one of the most original fighters to grace arcades in years. When it was released on the Xbox 360 last year in Japan, we figured it would stay on that side of the ocean like fellow Japanese wonders Tetris: The Grand Master Ace and The iDOLM@STER. But when it popped up on a popular retail site about two months ago with UbiSoft's name plastered on it, we were giddier than a fat kid trapped inside a Ben & Jerry's shop. You can only imagine our pain when, after working our way through contact after contact, not a single person at UbiSoft would even talk about it. Heck, most didn't even know what a "Seiko no Rodeo" even was. Thankfully, the ESRB does. Now titled Battle Storm: Senko no Ronde, we can rest easy knowing that we'll be busting up fools online soon enough, while silently weeping over what could be one pricey title. When last faced with an upscaled port, UbiSoft launched Import Tuner Challenge at the now standard $59.99. Senko no Ronde needs all the love it can get and for folks to take a chance a Naomi-based title in this day and age, they're going to need a little more motivation beyond unlocking pictures of Cuilan.
