It's been a while since we've seen anything from Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Crystal Bearers, but this single image popped up this week in the Japanese media in the aftermath of the Square Enix Party, and it's got us dying for more. Alas, even in recent interviews, they're not saying much about this action-oriented RPG .... Thank goodness we have all kinds of Final Fantasy fun to look forward to on the DS as well, or we'd be burning with anticipation.[Thanks for all the e-mails on this one!]

Game|Life's Chris Kohler got a chance to "play" with the DS Style collection at the Square Enix Party, and came away with positive impressions of the title we're most interested in: the classical music program which he translates as Would you like to listen to classical music on the Nintendo DS? The program sounds pretty interesting: it contains 100 pieces of music, a shuffle feature, and information and images related to each piece. It also gives users information about buying the music on CD. Kohler's impressions of the other titles weren't as positive, but it didn't sound like there was anything wrong with them. He just couldn't summon up the excitement for looking at maps.

Dragon Quest Swords made an appearance at the Square Enix Party over the weekend, and now the official website is updated with new trailers, screens, and wallpapers for your perusal. IGN's Craig Harris got some hands-on time with the demo, and he detailed the combat system (or rather, the portion in the demo) pretty extensively. Harris reports that combat is fun, but maybe a little too simple, and exaggerated moves translate more clearly to on-screen attacks than do simple flicks of the wrist. With two months to go until the game's release in Japan, some of that may change. Check out the brand new trailer after the jump for your own (visual) impressions.

We've been discussing this notion of a (DS) remake of Final Fantasy VII around here for the last few weeks, particularly since the confirmation that Final Fantasy IV was getting the makeover treatment. It turns out we're not alone; at the Square Enix Party in Japan, fans were given a chance to scribble their dreams on sticky notes for a suggestion board, and Cloud Strife's story was a little popular. Gamefront has several images of the boards, with a good luck at the variety of suggestions offered by fans. Final Fantasy VI makes an appearance as well.
