No, it's not a news related OMG Megaton. It's more like a "holy effing crap, look at all these games" kind of megaton. There are ten, ten games hitting the Xbox 360 this week. What's more, a lot of them look decent and, dare we say it, some of them even look good. Just look at all of 'em. Battlefield: Bad Company Top Spin 3 Supreme Commander Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath Alone in the Dark Hellboy: Science of Evil Hail to the Chimp Wall-E Operation Darkness Gears of War Refresh (2-Disc Edition) It's enough to give someone googly eyes. Alone in the Dark has our interest piqued (and has thus far fared decently in Europe). Here's hoping it -- and everything else here -- is up to snuff.[Via Joystiq]

Okay, so there aren't any new games headed to the Xbox 360 this week. It's natural to feel emotions of deep sadness or great anger at such news. It's perfectly normal. However, prolonging such feelings can be damaging to the body and soul. As such, we advise all of our readers to take a deep breath. Sure, there aren't any new games this week, but over the last two weeks we've had ten new games. That should be enough to keep anyone busy. At least we have Alone in the Dark next week, right? Here's hoping it was worth the wait.[Via Joystiq. Image: Cubbie n Vegas (CC)]

This week's lineup of new Xbox 360 games just might be the most random in the console's history. Given the caliber of the competition's major release this week, it seems doubly so. Seriously, look at the lineup of games we have this week: Nascar 09 Don King Presents Prize Fighter Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit Deadliest Catch: Alaskan Storm We have stock car racing, boxing with large-haired flair, anime fighting, and a game about dangerous fishing. We ask you, dearest fanboys and girls, which of these games is the highlight this week? Ponder that for a while and see if you can't help us figure it out. We'll be playing Ninja Gaiden II.Note: Deadliest Catch should be coming out for real this time. It seems it was listed by mistake last month.[Via Joystiq]

It's finally here kids. Yes, it's the granddaddy of all ninja simulators, Ninja Gaiden. This particular entry in the series is somewhat anachronistically titled Ninja Gaiden II. We can tell you unreservedly (and from experience) that it is glorious in execution. It's also goriest in executions. Eviscerations abound as gamers take on the role of Ryu Hayabusa, the superest of all super ninjas. But wait, what's that? There are more games shipping this week and they don't all suck? Whoa. Imagine our surprise. Behold this week's list: Ninja Gaiden II GRID LEGO Indiana Jones Robert Ludlum's: The Bourne Conspiracy Kung Fu Panda Incredible Hulk Which of these will grace your 360's DVD drive?[Via Joystiq]%Gallery-22757%

With the giant, lumbering shadow of Grand Theft Auto IV slowly receding, publishers are responding in kind, slowly releasing new titles. Testing the water, if you will. It seems appropriate, then, that this week's biggest Xbox 360 release is Deadliest Catch: Alaskan Storm, a game about (deadly) fishing. There is also one other title to look out for, that being Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. We're trying really hard to drum up some enthusiasm for that one. Actually, who are we kidding? We're not trying at all.%Gallery-17050%

It seems that publishers everywhere foresaw the Grand Theft Auto IV effect with great clarity. Apart from the obligatory release of the Iron Man game last week (gotta tie in with the movie release, y'know), everyone is keen to stay away from Rockstar's behemoth. What we're getting at here, lest you haven't figured it out, is that there are no new games on the Xbox 360 this week. Don't feel too bad though. After all, it's not like anyone is done with GTAIV yet anyway. Oh sure, you might have already beaten the game (like Xav), but no one is done with it. Come to think of it, there are games inside of GTAIV. If you haven't played them yet, those are kind of like new releases ....

We're going to have to come clean and say we know virtually nothing about NBA Ballers: Chosen One. Since November of last year, we've had an announcement, some screens, and that's about it. It hasn't made a splash on Metacritic just yet with the only review thus far coming from GamePro (the magazine gives it 60% according to Metacritic). Still, previous entries in the series have done fairly well, so here's hoping Chosen One can keep up. Whether basketball is your thing or not, you should know that it's your only choice this week. Maybe something more interesting will show up next week.[Via Joystiq]%Gallery-19994%

In some ways, the fact that no games are releasing for the Xbox 360 this week is a blessing. No, not for the general game buying public, but for lazy bloggers like us. It saves us the trouble of coming up with a cogent theme or drumming up some reason to be excited by the latest furniture varnishing sim (actually, scratch that, we would be totally up for a furniture varnishing sim). Hell, we even get to reuse the same image. So, um, nothing releasing this week. We are left with but one theory: with the GTAIV release date held in secrecy for so long, other publishers just crossed the month of April off of their calendars as a precaution.[Via Joystiq]

Nothing to see here, folks. Move along. There is not one Xbox 360 game releasing this week. Not a single one. it's a barren week, so go find something else to do. We suggest actually playing the games you own. After all, if all you ever did was buy games, when would you find time to play them, right? Oh, and let's not forget Ikaruga effing finally hits Xbox Live Arcade this week. Perhaps all the retail titles decided to bow out as a sign of respect.[Via Joystiq. Image: 4x4jeepchick]

It says something when the best game being released this week is a re-release of a game that originally launched last November. Then again, it's not like it's that surprising. After all, the game in question is Call of Duty 4 and there is only one other game releasing this week. That game, if you just have to know, is Smash Court Tennis 3. No offense to Smash Court Tennis 3, but it's frickin' Call of Duty 4, right? Actually, to be more precise, it's Call of Duty 4 Game of the Year Edition. Not only do you get COD4 goodness, but also a token to download the Variety Map Pack free of charge. Heck of a deal, no?[Via Joystiq]

Well kids, this is it. The first "next-gen" game evar is finally on its way to retail shelves. That's right, Dark Sector, the one time space stealth action game turned Eastern Europe stealth action game, will soon see the light of day. Is it any good? We'll have to wait and see. But wait! There's more! Not only are we getting Dark Sector this week, but also Universe at War: Earth Assault and Viking: Battle for Asgard. Viking is a hack and slash action game in the vein of God of War, while Universe at War: Earth Assault is a new entry in the RTS genre. Readers may recall that Universe at War is somewhat unique as it offers cross platform play between the PC and Xbox 360. Given the 360's lack of mouse and keyboard support -- and the fact that the PC version has been out for months -- we're anxious to see if console players will even stand a chance.[Via Joystiq]

It's sort of a lonely week for new releases. It's not that we aren't seeing anything worthwhile, though. Nope, this week we have the much awaited sequel to Rainbow Six Vegas, sagely titled Rainbow Six Vegas 2 to in order to nullify any confusion. Remember, this is the last time you'll be getting your 6 on in Vegas, so get it while the gettin's good (alternately, you could wait until it goes down in price and get it while the gettin's better). Also releasing this week is the latest curiosity from Sega, Sega Superstars Tennis. Alas, it seems Sega has more trouble wedging its beloved characters into the sports genre than Nintendo does, as the game has thus far received only fair to middling reviews.[Via Joystiq]

The Xbox 360 plays host to three new games this week. We're not quite sure which one tops the list honestly. Army of Two is probably the most talked about recently. Given its rocky development cycle and the fact that there aren't any major reviews up yet, we're remaining cautious. Bully: Scholarship Edition also releases this week, marking the first time that Microsoft console owners will get a chance to try it out (now with achievements!). And then there's Major League Baseball 2K8, about which we haven't the foggiest. Anyone out there longing to pick up one of these this week? • Shipping this week: attack of the colons edition

First off, some of you will be pleased to know that this is NOT another hijacking of a weekly features (I wouldn't want to upset anyone two weeks in a row). I'm taking over Richard's "Shipping this week" duties simply because he's a busy man and I'm a kind hearted soul. So, here comes the informative bits ... This week's Xbox 360 releases aren't plentiful or overly stellar, but they do have one grammatical thing in common. A colon. Yes sir, a colon brings all three of this week's releases together under one unified umbrella of release week unification ... of sorts. It's the punctuation binder that is what eggs are to meatloaf. Without it, this week would be a chaotic mess of randomness. So, be thankful for the colon and be thankful for this week's new Xbox 360 releases. Game on.
