Video: Shouting at disk drive causes high latency, low morale
Here's a tip for everyone who hasn't made the jump to solid state: try to be nice to your disk drive. Brendan Gregg from Sun's Fishworks team wanted to see the effects of vibrations on his disk array, so he proceeded to shout at it. On video. Yeah, we bet that's pretty embarrassing for the drive in question, and what results is a sharp spike the number of I/O operations that take over 5ms to complete. Moral of the story? Yelling at your computer isn't going to make it run any faster. How about next time we see how it reacts to Ozzy, Mozart and warm, gentle nuzzles? Shouting vase muffles outbursts, doubles as flower holder
We genuinely hope you don't have a need for this thing, but after standing in one of the many iPhone lines for hours on end, only to hear Apple tell you to come back in the morning and try again, we can certainly see how it would come in handy. Best we can tell, the shouting vase is just a sophisticated (or not) muffling utensil, which enables tempestuous individuals to unleash incredible roars that no one will be forced to endure. Still, at €51 ($80), this thing better produce thoughtful alternatives to our maddening rants for it to be even close to worthwhile.[Via Engadget Chinese]

Yesterday a player on the WoW forums pointed out that the Warrior skill Demoralizing Shout would be interesting to see in action. According to Undamian's interpretation, essentially, the skill involves insulting your opponents to throw them off balance in combat. Taunt, Challenging Shout, Piercing Howl and Intimidating Shout could also be viewed in a like manner. Unlike similar skills in other classes, warriors aren't considered magic users, so they must have an extensive vocabulary and a lot of creativity in order to affect their foes with mere words and body language.The original poster's idea, of course, led to a slew of suggestions as to what it is that warrior's actually say when they use these abilities. Community Manager Nethaera even proffered a suggestion, and as the thread progressed, other skills, such as Commanding and Battle Shout were included. Some players even posted catch phrases that they have bound to their abilities in game via macros. What do you imagine your character would say when using these skills? Please keep it clean.
