In 2.1, once reaching exalted with the Sha'tari Skyguard, it will be possible to get a brand-new type of flying mount: a nether ray! Pretty nifty, if you ask me; I was just recently lamenting the lack of flying mount variety. But what does it look like? Peep the video, friends! (For those who do not wish to peep it: its flying motions look pretty much exactly like the nether rays mobs in the game.) I wonder how hard that rep is going to be to grind...Props to Fibb, of Burning Blade, for making this. And I know I always talk about the music in these videos, but...why does every WoW vid have to be set to hard rock or metal? I swear, if I ever make one I'm gonna set it to Pavement or Ella Fitzgerald or something...Previously on Moviewatch...[via MMO-Champion]

  • PTR notes: Welcome to Skettis, Polly wanna cracker?

In every public test realm, there are those brave souls who go out and try to grind factions, kill bosses, and do long questlines for rewards that will not be transferred to their main characters. Aalhi of Kael'Thas is one of those brave souls. He's decided to head over to Skettis and start doing some of the Sha'Tari Skyguard reputation quests to see what they're like. So far, he's gotten a few quests involving killing mobs for reputation, feeding a nether ray, drinking a potion and killing named mobs, retrieving a prisoner's pack, assembling a book and turning into an arakkoa. Sounds like a pretty neat new place to quest, but the most interesting part of Aalhi's information is the reputation rewards. At exalted with Sha'Tari Skyguard, you get a nether ray flying mount (and yes, you do need 300 riding skill already. Sorry.) You can also buy two nice cloaks -- one for melee, one for casters -- that have decent stats and a use of reducing your fall speed for 10 seconds. There are some fun buyable foods at friendly reputation: one that restores 2148 health and 4410 mana and one that restores 7500 HP and gives you 30 stamina and 20 spirit for half an hour. The real prizes of Skyguard rep, according to Aalhi, are the two trinkets you can get at exalted: "Airman's Ribbon of Gallantry: Equip: Improves spell critical rating by 31 Equip: 30% chance to increase your spell damage and healing by 80 when you kill a target that gives experience or honor. This effect cannot occur more than once every 10 seconds. Skyguard Silver Cross: Equip: Improves critical strike rating by 31 Equip: 30% chance to increase your attack power by 140 when you kill a target that gives experience or honor. This effect cannot occur more than once every 10 seconds." Niiiice. What do you think? Will you be grinding Skyguard or Netherwing rep in the next patch, or trying to get to the Black Temple?

var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/gaming_news/Brand_new_WoW_models_from_the_2_1_PTR_patch'; MMO-Champion has already started cracking open the Public Test Realm patch with a model viewer, and he's found some pretty cool stuff, including new weapons models (some of which still look unfinished), what appear to be bosses from the Black Temple (or possibly new models from the other opened areas), and even Illidan and the Druid epic flight form. If you're worried about spoilers, don't-- I'm going out of my way here to keep them from you, but definitely don't click on any of those links, because there are definitely spoilers ahoy. And don't click on the "Continue reading" link below either, because I've put a few of the more pertinent snaps after the jump, along with a little healthy speculation about where and what they're for. MMO-Champion promises more, so check over there to see what else he's put up.

  • Will the new 2.1 content be instance-based?

Blizzard's recent announcement of additional content for the upcoming 2.1 patch left a lot to be desired where details were concerned. While it's quite clear that there will be three new areas in the game -- the Ethereum Prison, Skettis, and Ogri'la -- Blizzard's phrasing never specifically states that these will be 5-player instances, or instances at all. Instead of "instance," Blizzard talks about "solo and small-group" content, "tons of new quests," and (for Skettis and Ogri'la) "5-person bosses." So what should we expect to see in patch 2.1? Only Blizzard knows, but that doesn't stop us from speculating! Over on The Many Realms of Relmstein, Relmstein presents us with three possibilities on what these zones might be like: Quest Hubs with new chain quests which eventually result in having to fight a 5-man boss. Quest Hubs which require you to go to a non instanced area filled with elite mobs. Each area has a single small instance which has group content inside but single person quest objectives outside. I think that sums up the possibilities quite well -- but we're just going to have to wait to find out which one it will be.

Inspired by this forum thread about hidden and mysterious places in Outland, I took to the skies on my windrider to check out some less-traveled places in the expansion. From the empty Horde village above Shattrath, to Challe's Home for Little Tykes, all the way to Skettis, the hidden capital of the Arrakoa, I went on a tour of some of Outland's secrets.Check out the gallery below to see all the places I found. And while I spent a night touring around, Blizzard spent months making this place. If you've found cool stuff that I didn't include in the Gallery, feel free to drop it in the comments below.%Gallery-2117%
