Sure, you've had to wait to play Sniper: Ghost Warrior on your PS3 -- past the mid-2010 release on Xbox 360 and PC, and past the missed Q1 release date on PS3 -- but City Interactive's all-noun FPS is coming to the platform June 28, and it'll be available in an extra fancy version when it arrives. The Sniper: Ghost Warrior One Shot - One Kill Limited Edition, available only at GameStop for $50, packs the "One Shot-One Kill" DLC, a mode that allows players in single-player mode ten-second intervals of super-sniper powers. You'll be able to shoot through solid objects, do more damage, and hold your rifle extra still. The pack also includes a "Sniper Stories" book, a dog tag, a poster, and "production artwork postcards.

City Interactive has announced that the combined PC and Xbox 360 sales of Sniper: Ghost Warrior have crested a million units. The feat took seven months to accomplish, though the numbers certainly aren't shabby considering Sniper is City Interactive's first Xbox 360 title. A PlayStation 3 version is slated to arrive later this year. A sequel, being built on CryEngine 3, was announced in January. City Interactive plans to bring the title to PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

City Interactive has announced what we believe to be its second first-person shooter to use CryEngine 3: a sequel to Sniper: Ghost Warrior. We say "second" because the developer announced last month that it was working with Stuart Black to create an "exciting new story-driven WWII shooter," which doesn't sound like the more modern, stealthy Ghost Warrior. At that time, it also said it had licensed CryEngine 3 for two games. Producer Michal Sroczynski revealed the plans for Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 in an interview with Eurogamer.se. He didn't have much else to say about it, except that it will be released on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. We're kind of hoping for more nouns in the title -- we like the ring of "Sniper: Ghost Warrior Cowboy Boxer Cop Wolfman," ourselves.

It looks like the surprising success of Sniper: Ghost Warrior on Xbox 360 has led developer City Interactive to port it to PS3. The game will arrive on Sony's console early next year, during the first quarter. This newest version of the game will include all of the updates (and presumably DLC) released for the PC and Xbox versions, plus several additions. Notably, Sniper for PS3 will sport improved graphics, more single-player missions, extra multiplayer modes and maps, two new sniper rifles and a new single-player challenge mission.

Following the surprising success of Sniper: Ghost Warrior, City Interactive has released a new map pack for the game. The DLC packs in 5 new maps that allow players to "battle to control ruined oil-rigs or lie in wait to capture one of mystic stone towers." The DLC also increases shooting distance, which is probably a good thing for snipers. The new map pack is available now on Xbox Live Marketplace and Steam for $10.

City Interactive is increasing shipments of Sniper: Ghost Warrior following the game's unexpected success in the UK. The game premiered two weeks ago at fifth place on Chart-Track's Xbox 360 chart and tenth on the All Formats chart, dipping four spots last week. Not bad for the developer's first major title. MCV reports that City Interactive CEO Marek Tyminski stated, "We are extremely pleased with the reception Sniper: Ghost Warrior has received." Tyminski is likely talking about the game's financial success and not its critical reception. The game currently has a Metacritic score of 55 and 45 on the PC and Xbox 360, respectively. %Gallery-87697%

City Interactive has announced that a patch is headed to its recently released sneaky shooter, Sniper: Ghost Warrior. The patch is set to fix some GUI problems -- including multiplayer stats -- and will also fix some multiplayer bugs, like the ability to run outside the map. Multiplayer will also see the "Increased ability" for a player to hold his breath. Perhaps most importantly, the patch will fix a crashing issue on the PC version. The patch is expected to arrive for both the Xbox and PC version of Sniper within the next two weeks. See the patch notes after the break.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior is the first Xbox 360 game to be published by City Interactive. It's a first-person military shooter being released on a platform absolutely inundated with similar games. At first glance, it would be easy to discount the title and assume it's nothing more than an attempt to capitalize on a very popular genre. Thankfully, the game does a few things to set it apart from the Modern Warfares and the Battlefields, namely an emphasis on stealth and sniping finesse. %Gallery-87697%

We're not a hard blog to please. Send us some screens and some video, perhaps a trailer that has a badass guitar solo screeching throughout, and you've won us over. That's exactly what's going on in the Sniper: Ghost Warrior multiplayer trailer above. Sure, there's a whole bunch of sniping to check out but, man, those licks! We just hope that music doesn't play in-game, because we probably won't be able to kill anyone while we're busy headbanging with our leather bracelet and denim vest on. Accompanying the finger-melting trailer after the break is a bounty of new screens, so if you like your action a bit more still -- but just as violent -- hit up the gallery below. %Gallery-93064%

click to zoom and enhance First of all, no, there isn't a better title for an FPS than "Sniper: Ghost Warrior." That's just a fact. Second of all, the game's coming from the makers of such gaming classics as Chicken Riot and I Love Beauty: Hollywood Makeover, so we expect nothing but the best from the just-announced title. Sniper: Ghost Warrior is the first Xbox 360 venture from Poland-based devs City Interactive, an idea the company says was born out of some recent television programming. "With all-new programming airing nationally on the History Channel and the Military Channel regarding the training of snipers and their missions, interest in the art of sniping has never been greater," VP of sales Lisa Rivera explains. The game is said to be centered around the assistance of rebels who are trying to overthrow "an aggressive and hostile military command" that has taken over the once-democratic (and fictional) nation of Isla Trueno. A handful of screens were released with the game's announcement this morning (which we've dropped into a gallery below), and if those tickle you pink then it'll interest you to know that the game's got a "Q2 2010" release window. %Gallery-87697%
