It was a pretty kick-ass week in terms of interplanetary exploration -- and not even just in NMS. Astronomers found a potentially habitable planet just 4.2 light years from us! This could be our first stop beyond Mars but it's going to take a while to get there, so we're going to have to travel light. That means bringing nothing but the most essential of supplies -- like scouter drones, custom-designed hazmat suits, efficient solar power generators and 8K televisions. Numbers, because how else are you going to calculate the interstellar rocket's payload fraction?

It's no secret that we're madly in love with Suda51's No More Heroes and take every opportunity available to talk about it. But, where does such an idea come from? Does it simply leap from the darkest corners of Suda51's brain? During his "The Birth of No More Heroes" presentation at The Nordic Game Conference, the man said several movies played a big part in shaping the themes of the game, and the title's main character, Travis Touchdown, was directly inspired by the antics of Johnny Knoxville in Jackass. That explains the gratuitous amount of shopping carts in the game!Other films played crucial roles in helping Suda51 conceptualize the game, such as Mel Brooks' classic, Spaceballs, which Suda credits for giving him the idea for Travis Touchdown's signature weapon, the beam katana. The list keeps going on, as Suda also gives credit to classics Dirty Harry and El Topo for helping the dream of No More Heroes become a reality.Suda's presentation not only talks No More Heroes, but it also deals with the films that inspired his other games. So, if you're a Suda51 fan (or a Grasshopper Manufacture fan), you'll want to check out 1UP's transcript of the panel.%Gallery-4611%

  • X-mini Max II looks like a trash can, pumps out the jams

If you've ever thought to yourself, "I could use a pair of tiny, tinny, and aesthetically-impaired portable speakers for my laptop or PMP," this is your lucky day. X-Mini, known for pushing sound through something that looks like a cross between alien hardware and a donut, is back on the scene with the Max II. A stunning departure from the usual fare, this thing ditches the wagon wheel in favor of something that one of Dark Helmet's minions might wear in Spaceballs. Apparently, the new design also features a bigger driver meaning, you guessed it, "twice the bass." We didn't have the heart to point out that two times bupkis is still bupkis. We're not sure when this 2.5W sonic wonder will be released in the US, but we'll be keepin' our eyes peeled.

Tomorrow is going to be a big day for players of Nexon's MapleStory. For one day only, all items in the cape, overall, hat or shoe category will be completely free. You just simply visit the in-game "cash shop" to customize your avatar and try on whatever new looks you want -- and all without dropping a single penny. Now we can finally get that toy we always pined for as children, if even for only one day! This is actually a pretty cool gesture from Nexon, and we think it'll probably make for one of the busiest days in MapleStory quite some time. Now, if you'll excuse us we have to go try out that "Spaceballs! The Flame Thrower!" on a few zombies...
