Fujitsu's splitting F-04B cellphone gets tested, found to contain no Energon cubes
Sometimes you want a phone with a physical keyboard. Sometimes you want one that fits in the back pocket of your skinny jeans. And sometimes, when you're feeling really crazy, you want one with a pico projector. Impossible dream? Not if you're Fujitsu, who have made official the bizarre splitting F-04B first showed as a prototype last year, and AkihabaraNews has managed a hands-on. Both the touchscreen and keyboard portions operate independently and connect via Bluetooth, as does the 854 x 480 projector that can clip on in place of the keyboard. Overall impressions are good, the phone said to be a bit too bulky with the keyboard attached but quite fit with just the screen, and though that LCD didn't get high marks for responsiveness, the 12.2 megapixel camera did. If you're looking for price or release info you're out of luck, but we'd advise against getting any hopes up. We know, it's hard.
The Daily Grind: How many MMOs?
Let's face it-- MMOs are time-consuming. Just one great MMO can steal all your free time, but there are just so many out there that it's hard for some of us to stick to just one. I'm paying for two subscriptions at the moment, but with free-to-play games, and a couple of betas, I'm up to about five different games that I occasionally sign on to about once a week or so..I can't say that splitting myself between that many games makes much sense-- I mostly do it just to keep up with what's new in all of them, so I'd guess that I'm a little higher than average. So let's put the question to you all today-- how many MMOs would you say that you play regularly (about once a week)? Are you a one-game player, or do you figure the more virtual worlds you get to visit, the better?

Splitting Large AVI and DivX Files
So you've got a lot of large AVI and/or DivX files lying around. Perhaps you've decided to rip all your DVD's to DivX format to create a media center with your new Intel Mac mini. But because ripping takes a lot of time and you don't trust HD's, you also want to back up the ripped movies using that stack of 100 blank CD's your Grandma bought you for Xmas. But CD's only hold 700MB of data and your Divx files are much larger. How can you easily split the large files into more manageable (and backup-able) chunks?Enter Explicit, a free open source Cocoa application that provides a very easy interface for doing just that! Here's a screenshot of the interface:The author of this software used to have a program available called Xmerge, which allowed you to go the opposite direction and merge two or more files together into one large one, but it seems to no longer be available. (Ah...looks like it's an open source Linux application for which he just built a GUI). I have a copy of it on my Panther machine at home and still use it occasionally to combine files.
