Steam has introduced a new tags system, where users can input custom tags on any Steam product page. Steam Tags not only helps with organization, it's also a good tool for discovering new games and apps on Steam. You can now browse games by popular tags such as "Steam Trading Cards" or "difficult," or by tags recommended to you based on your play and purchase history. Steam Tags are multi-lingual, too – so you can add tags in English, Russian, Danish and more. Sorry, it doesn't look like Steam supports Klingon or Elvish tags. The implementation of Steam Tags follows last week's addition of a Recently Updated section providing an at-a-glance view of games that have been patched or received new content. Valve also plans to introduce a Steam Music beta soon, which will allow users to listen to local library files through the Steam client while playing their games. [Image: Valve]

Valve has added a new space to the front page of Steam, in the hopes of offering a better at-a-glance view of recently updated games. The Recently Updated section not only highlights patched games, but those that have just received DLC or new features entirely. Developers can choose when their update is highlighted in this section, thanks to new developer tools available alongside the Recently Updated portal's roll-out. This is an especially useful feature for constantly-changing Early Access games and mitigates the need to hunt down patch notes on developer sites or in the Steam Community forums. There's even a page to specifically list updates for your Steam library. Last year, Valve announced plans to better integrate Steam into the living room. This initiative includes custom plug-and-play Steam Machines, built by third-party manufacturers, running on a custom version of Linux called SteamOS. Each Steam box also ships with Valve's own Steam Controller. [Image: Valve]

Ubuntu users who've been thirsty for the first stable release of Valve's Steam Client can officially consider themselves quenched. After months of rigorous beta testing, Newell's platform has finally arrived in the Software Center for download. You'll be even more enthused to know that it's currently packing 100 games, all of which are temporarily discounted 50- to 75-percent (until Feb. 21st, 1PM EST) to get the party started -- Team Fortress players also get a "Tux penguin". And with that, we'll steer you to the source link below to download it for yourself.
