Go into a Fruit Frenzy with Space Ark
We weren't sure what to expect from Space Ark when it was first announced, but with this trailer out, we can certainly say it looks colorful. Something called an "Arkonaut" is tethered and bouncing off of a moving platform called a "Bounce Pad," and then there's a Fruit Frenzy, and then the Pad can shoot fruit for a Super Combo, and then there's even a Bonus Stage after that. Whew, there's a lot going on there! But it does look (and sound) like fun. You can also see a "Level Up" score multiplier on the side of the screen -- and, as we all know, multiplying your score is always the right thing to do. The trailer puts the game's release on XBLA in spring 2010, which, last we saw out the window, was right about now. So you probably won't have to wait too long to get your daily dose of space fruit from Strawdog Studios. %Gallery-63907%
GEON devs return to XBLA with Space Ark
click to enlarge Strawdog Studios, the developer behind GEON: Emotions, has revealed its next XBLA project, Space Ark. Billed as a tribute to the colorful arcade games of the '80s -- Strawdog notes Arkanoid and Rainbow Islands as examples -- the game tasks players with healing dead planets by, get this, bouncing animals into the air to collect DNA. Oh, the animals are also astronauts Arkonauts and they have a spaceship called, unsurprisingly, the Space Ark.Looking at the first screens of the game, we're definitely sensing an Arkanoid / Breakout vibe. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is anybody's guess. According to TeamXbox, the game releases later this year, so we should find out soon enough.%Gallery-63907%[Via TeamXbox]
Emotional puzzler Geon is coming to Wii
Last year's XBLA release (and this week's PSN release) Geon is coming to the Wii. While the video above is not taken from the Wii version of the game, it gives you a general idea of what to expect from the puzzler. Being the puzzle fans we are, we're anxious to give the game a whirl. Oh, and it won't just be a port of the XBLA and PSN release, either. The Wii title will feature 4-player split-screen action and 16 new 'duel mode' grids.Geon is scheduled to release on Wii later this year.%Gallery-32826%
GEON Emotions makes XBLA moody this week
Wednesday is fast approaching and that means it's time for a new Xbox Live Arcade game. The press release just hit our inbox, and this week's game is GEON: Emotions from Eidos and Strawdog Studios. We were initially confused by GEON's gameplay, but once you know the basics, it's pretty simple. More or less, it's something like a mix between Pac-Man and capture the flag. Roll over a certain number of dots and then make the trek to your opponent's goal. Manage to do that five times before your opponent does and you win. Easy, right? Oh, and there are some power-ups and the like as well. If all of this sounds like fun to you, then you can plunk down the requisite 800 MS Points when it hits XBLA tomorrow.%Gallery-5043%
