We're of the firm opinion that your time is too precious, too valuable to be spent reading a full review for a game that was already reviewed many, many years ago. What's the point of applying a score to a game that's old enough to be enrolled in the sixth grade? That's why we invented Deja Review: A quick look at the new features and relative agelessness of remade, revived and re-released games. "Woah, wait a second, Joystiq," you might be typing into the comments section of this review right this second, "how in the world can you do a Deja Review on something that's new like Tekken Hybrid?" Well, it's simple: Tekken Hybrid is mostly old stuff. Parts of it are new, but the most substantial offering in the package is a PS2 launch title which has had a face lift. I should preface this all by saying I'm a pretty big Tekken fan. I've been playing the series since it existed and the original Tekken Tag Tournament is responsible for one of my favorite memories as a human being. But, for most fighting game fans, you've either been with the franchise for a while or you've got your reasons for not giving Tekken a chance. Don't expect Tekken Hybrid to sway that opinion. %Gallery-129093%

Namco Bandai is relaunching its "ClubNamco" online store with an exclusive Tekken Hybrid bundle. The $249.99 set, limited to 1,000 units, contains the Tekken Hybrid limited edition, along with an exclusive Namco-branded Mad Catz Tournament Edition S FightStick, which might be the most understated arcade stick we've seen. Pre-orders open today in advance of the game's official release date is November 22. While the real purpose of the stick is to play Tekken Tag Tournament HD and the Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Prologue included in Hybrid, the PS3-exclusive release also includes Tekken: Blood Vengeance, making that the first movie we can think of to have an official arcade stick.

With the Tekken Hybrid set, you get both a movie (Tekken: Blood Vengeance) and a game (Tekken Tag Tournament HD) along with other bonuses like Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Prologue. If you feel uncomfortable about cramming all that content into a regular-size PS3 game case, you now have another option. On Twitter, Producer Katsuhiro Harada revealed the limited edition package for Tekken Hybrid, including the standard edition, an artbook, and the soundtrack, in a much bigger box. Harada specifies that "PSN contents" will also be included, and that the soundtrack consists of two discs. Official pricing details haven't been announced, but Amazon says $59.99, a $20 premium over the standard edition. [Thanks, Elisha]

Namco Bandai went just a little crazy at GamesCom, releasing entirely too much media for us to post piecemeal. So after the break, you can find new trailers and screens for two Ace Combats (on PS3/Xbox and 3DS), two Tekkens (on PS3 and 3DS), Tales of the Abyss, Inversion, and more. Armored Core 5 alone has earned a "blowout" appelation, with no fewer than three videos and a gallery. How much do you love mechs? Find out right now!

When you buy the Tekken Hybrid set, you'll get an HD version of the first Tekken Tag Tournament for PS3. You'll also get a playable sample of Tekken Tag Tournament 2, producer Katsuhiro Harada announced at Comic-Con. Oh, and the Tekken Blood Vengeance movie, of course. The trailer shows Alisa and Xiaoyu, who will be playable in the "Prologue," fighting Devil, who hasn't been previously revealed as a character appearing in this game. And speaking of unconfirmed news, a console release still hasn't been announced for Tekken Tag 2 -- even though it now has a console demo. The Hybrid set will be out sometime in November, but if you have a hankering for a bite-sized Tekken Tag experience now, you can get Tekken Bowl on iPhone -- for free!%Gallery-129093%%Gallery-129091%%Gallery-129098%

  • Tekken Hybrid unites Tag Tournament remake and Blood Vengeance movie on PS3

E3 2011 was secretly a big year for the Tekken series. Street Fighter X Tekken was playable, and new Tekken games were briefly shown for both 3DS and Wii U. If those weren't enough, Sony sneaked the PlayStation version of the original Tekken onto the PlayStation Store right before the show. One facet of this manifold Iron Fist media assault is Tekken Hybrid, a PS3-exclusive collection that bundles the movie Tekken: Blood Vengeance 3D with an HD remake of the PS2's Tekken Tag Tournament. Unspecified extra content will also be thrown in for the set's November release -- judging from recent events, we're guessing that content will include trailers for like a dozen more Tekken games.%Gallery-126048%
