If the above ad for Tenchu Dark Shadow makes you think you could be even the deadliest assassin, employing beartraps to thwart your enemies through your sexy, sleek DS Lite, opening it and slamming it shut with the deadly conviction only a master ninja possesses, then you need to stop watching TV. For the rest of us, we'll just get a kick out of the hilarious face the balding pursuer makes as he's butt-shoved back-kicked into the water. [Thanks mandarin!]

Rikimaru and Ayame return to quench their thirst for sticky hot blood. From Software released some new shots of the upcoming Tenchu Dark Shadow yesterday. Of the images, a couple are worth special note. The game's stylized stealth-kill scenes seem to have made the transition to the handheld as a couple shots show an unsuspecting enemy getting blasted with what could be a bomb or magical attack on the top screen and the death shown in wonderful detail on the bottom. The game is going to be WiFi compatible and slated to release next month in Japan.   [Via GoNintendo]

Though we haven't received as much information on this game as we blindly believe we're entitled to, the fact of the matter is that Tenchu: Dark Shadow (another one of those oh-so-clever titles) contains a healthy number of ninjas. This means that, aside from flipping out and killing people, you can expect to engage in all sorts of sneaky tactics whilst you eliminate your evil warlord foes. It's fair to say that the stealth genre hasn't been truly well represented on the DS yet, and so we're hoping that this game will quietly put things right. As for the actual screenshots posted on DS Advanced, we're thinking that this genre looks to benefit particularly well from the standard "bottom screen is a map" feature. The graphics look a bit rubbish, but if the controls, AI and sound can come together (as with the good titles in the series), it's unlikely to be a major issue for covert ninja fans. Check out the whole batch of screens after the link.[Thanks mandarin!]
