This week's PlayStation Store update enables pre-orders for Naughty Dog's The Last of Us, bundled with a PSN theme, the soundtrack and some avatars. The PS3 exclusive is slated to launch on PSN and in stores on June 14, 2013, and should be playable as soon as it's downloaded halfway. Grid 2 and Fuse are also available through PSN today, launching alongside their retail counterparts. Rockstar's The Warriors is also on the menu, making its PS2 Classics debut for $10. Meanwhile, PlayStation Plus subscribers can download a free copy of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend on PS Vita, as well as a free PS Vita music app, Imaginstruments.

  • The Warriors rages onto PSN next week as PS2 Classic

The Warriors, Rockstar's 2005 game based on the 1979 cult movie, is coming to PSN next week. As per typical PS Store updates, it arrives in North America on May 28 for $9.99, and then in Europe the day after for £7.99/€9.99. Rockstar Toronto reportedly worked on a spiritual successor to The Warriors, an Xbox 360 game called We Are The Mods. According to CVG, it was similar in style to The Warriors' urban brawling, but set in mid-1960s England, during the Mods and Rockers era. Since that never came to fruition, the closest you're going to get to a current-gen Warriors game, outside of CTXM's The Warriors: Street Brawl, is next week's re-release. Like all PS2 Classics on PSN, it's only playable on PS3.

  • The Rogues come out to play in this The Warriors: Street Brawl trailer

Following yesterday's look at The Lizzies, one of the gangs featured in upcoming The Warriors: Street Brawl, we've got a new trailer highlighting The Rogues. You may remember The Rogues actually played an important role in the film, starting all of the hoopla and pinning it on The Warriors. We knew The Rogues were rebels, but what we don't get is how they can desecrate a graveyard like this. Is nothing sacred with today's youth? Darn whippersnappers ...

When we heard about the upcoming Paramount game The Warriors: Street Brawl back in February, the company had only released gameplay of The Warriors themselves in action. The trailer you see above features another gang from the film -- The Lizzies -- who are apparently capable of at least one more special move (bringing the total up to two so far). Aside from re-confirming a Summer release window for the game on PSN/XBLA, the teaser only offers a teensy bit of gameplay. Though considering the fact that the Summer is nearly over, we're guessing it won't be long before The Warriors: Street Brawl all over your console's digital marketplace. Can you dig it?

Very few things tick off the happy-go-lucky team at Joystiq, but when you send us a new trailer for The Warriors: Street Brawl that doesn't have one iota of gameplay footage, nor one single second of anything from the game, then we have an issue with it. We guess we just expect too much these days, spoiled from the 95% of the industry that does game trailers right. Come on, the game announcement had more in it than this! How do you expect to drum up interest and get gamers to come out and play-ay when all you give us is this?

Paramount Digital Entertainment has just announced a new Xbox Live Arcade game based on The Warriors, planned for release this summer. The brawler is part of a 30th anniversary celebration that will include a new comic book series and "other products and entertainment". The new game will feature, of course, the movie's trademark gangs, fighting each other. However, don't expect a sequel to the acclaimed 2005 Warriors game by Rockstar -- this game is being made by developer CTXM and not Rockstar Games. Check out the trailer after the break! Oh, and "Warriors, come out to play-ay!" Just because it's important to work that into every post about The Warriors.

This week's circulars are highlighting the PSP price drop, and some fantastic deals on some great Rockstar games. The Warriors, which received a prestigious 8.5 review from PSP Fanboy, is getting even cheaper, dropping down to a mere $15 at Circuit City. Sure, it's a port--but it's a mighty fine game on the handheld.Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories is also entering the Best Buy bargain bin this week: it'll be available for a mere $20. Who said PSP games had to be expensive?[Via IGN]

Hey, didn't The Warriors come out a long time ago on other platforms? And, wasn't it just a brawler game? Meh, maybe it's a Grand Theft Auto-clone. Why should I get excited for a cheap port of an old game? This kind of sentiment would be completely baseless. It's true that The Warriors isn't a new game. It's also true that the PSP version is simply a port, without any significant upgrades to the original. And yes, like most of Rockstar's other games, this game borrows tons of elements from the revered GTA franchise. However, to think of it as "just a brawler" would do this game a horrible injustice. In fact, PSP owners should be grateful to have such a refreshingly solid game made available on the platform, especially at its budget price. Without a doubt, The Warriors is worth every penny: it provides hours of incredible fun, with a natural, satisfying combat system, and top-notch presentation.

Rockstar's latest is coming out real soon. This PS2 port has already earned one rave review from GameSpy: its budget price, and immediately available Armies of the Night mode, pushed it to a pretty fantastic 4.5/5 score from them. "The Warriors is that console generation's best pure brawler," GameSpy notes. Sounds exciting, no?To get a better feel for the violence that'll end up in our handhelds, Gamespot has covered the various characters and fighting styles in the game. You'll be able to read up on thugs like Cleon, Swan, Snow and Ajax. Having missed the PS2 original, I have to admit that I'm pretty excited for this Tuesday's big release. Are you?

  • The Warriors tagging NYC?

PSP Fanboy recently spotted evidence of a Warriors resurgence in New York City. With a PSP port of The Warriors in the works, could those Rockstar hooligans be dabbling in guerrilla marketing? We wouldn't put it past the studio, which is headquartered in NYC; but this could easily be a remnant from the game's first go-round on PlayStation 2 and Xbox -- or just the uninspired work of a fan. Anyone else spotted tags?

While I was walking in downtown NYC, something interesting caught my eye: a spray-painted tag of The Warriors on the sidewalk. While it's true that Rockstar's offices are located in my fine city, I'm sure Mayor Bloomberg won't be too pleased about this apparent graffiti advertising. Remember when Sony tried the same thing? They were busted, and fined. Will Rockstar also get caught?

Rockstar Games highly rated The Warriors is coming to PSP, but up until now, we just got to see it in screens. Finally, there's a trailer available and it has all the production values you'd expect from a Rockstar trailer. I never got to pick up The Warriors when it first came out, so I'm looking forward to finally playing it on my PSP. Any other PSP owners out there psyched for this Rockstar gem? The game comes out next week. Trailer after the jump ...

The French site, Play France (O, RLY?), seems to have the very first images of the upcoming PSP port of The Warriors, Rockstar Leeds' follow-up to the first two GTA Stories games. These renders are at a much higher resolution than actual gameplay footage, meaning it'll look sharper than what will appear on your PSP. Regardless, considering the team's penchant for technical superiority, there should be little doubt that the game will look quite good on the PSP when it ships next year.[Via PSP GadgetZ]

We don't usually do press releases, but I'm such a Rockstar nut that anytime they grace our handheld, I get excited. This port of the popular game based on the classic 70s film is being developed by Rockstar Leeds, the programmers of the graphically intense Grand Theft Auto Stories series. It's unknown if the PSP version of the game will feature any new content, but considering its holiday release date, we'll guess no."We set out to create a highly sophisticated portable game that delivers a visceral experience previously unseen on the PSP system," stated Sam Houser, Founder and Executive Producer of Rockstar Games. "We are looking forward to setting the definitive bar for the brawler genre on the PSP system by delivering an extremely stylish and exceptionally deep experience."[Thanks, steve!]
