    This week season two of HBO's True Detective is coming to an end, plus a few oldies on Blu-ray with Innerspace and Free Willy. In gaming, there's a Rare Replay pack of oldies on Xbox One, Submerged on PC, PS4 and Xbox One and some new DLC for the latest Call of Duty -- including a new zombies pack -- on Xbox. ABC Family's Stitchers also has a season finale this week, while Melissa & Joey airs its last episode ever. For football addicts, preseason action is in full swing, so keep an eye on the rosters and get ready for those fantasy drafts.

The Subversive Science Fiction of Hip-Hop by Rose Eveleth Motherboard I'd never really thought about all of the science fiction references in hip-hop until I read Rose Eveleth's piece for Motherboard that pointed out all of the ties. I listen to a lot of hip-hop, but for some reason, all of the mentions of sci-fi stuff -- from superheroes to dystopia and our human limits -- only got a passing glance from me. This offers a solid look at all of the crossover and serves as further proof that nerdery is universal.

    This week Netflix adds a new season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars to its streaming library, but we're mostly anticipating Sunday night's season finale of True Detective. Tonight Almost Human also wraps up its first season on Fox, while Bates Motel returns for a second go-round on A&E. Best Picture-nominated 12 Years A Slave tops the list of Blu-ray releases this week while The Walking Dead Season Two, Episode Two arrives on various videogame platforms.
