Rayman Legends will frolic onto PCs at launch, just in case you figured Ubisoft's platformer had no more platforms to give. Originally expected as a Wii U launch game, Legends saw a few delays including one to accommodate additional arrivals on PS3 and Xbox 360. It's since added Vita and PC to its roster, the newly-announced latter courtesy of China-based Ubisoft Chengdu in collaboration with original dev Ubi Montpellier. Legends has various distinct incentives on its different platforms; for PC users pre-ordering the digital version from Ubisoft's online shop, the bonus is a free copy of the excellent Rayman Origins. Ubisoft recently revealed that Legends includes 40 graphically updated levels from predecessor Origins, but freebies aren't to be sniffed at. Legends leaps onto all five platforms on September 3 in North America, and August 30 in Europe. That's not that long to wait, but you'll still want to check out our shiny new video preview in the meantime. %Gallery-194667%

In more shenanigans around quiet releases, Ubisoft today stealthily brought forward the PC release of I Am Alive by one week, meaning it should be out tomorrow. Ubisoft originally scheduled the urban disaster game for a September 13 release, but quietly altered Steam and Ubishop pages to say otherwise. We've reached out to Ubisoft for comment on the changed release date. What seems like more bungling around release dates is, in many ways, a fitting end to I Am Alive's tumultuous development. It was originally designed as a full retail release, but after months of silence it eventually became an Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network download. Nonetheless, the game successfully clambers onto various PC portals tomorrow for $14.99.

With the announcement of release dates for 3DS and Vita, there are vanishingly few platforms left that won't have Rayman Origins. Now the PC joins the platforming party, with a release in both Europe and the United States on March 29. The PC version retains the 4-player co-op functionality of the console versions, and also retains its local-only restriction.Surprisingly, the retail release will have no DRM. The download version, for "all e-shops including Steam," will use "only an activation key." Pre-orders of the digital Origins from the Ubishop will also include a free copy of Rayman 2.[Thanks, Mitchell.]

For die-hard fans of Ubisoft's major franchises, the company offers a new way to own physical totems of those fandoms. It just launched a line of exclusive "UbiCollectibles" available exclusively through its online shop (and, at the moment, exclusively in Europe). For those of us outside of Europe who get redirected out of that region's online shop, Ubiworkshop posted images of two of the first offerings: an Assassin's Creed Brotherhood "Ezio's Fury" statue, limited to 2,000 units, that depicts Ezio furiously skipping on some broken columns, and a statue of Might & Magic Heroes VI's Archangel Michael, limited to 500. The shop will also sell Ghost Recon "Production Team" t-shirts, as seen on ... the Ghost Recon production team at E3.%Gallery-127589%

There are few pleasures more pure in life than when you buy a candy bar in a vending machine, and two candy bars come out. Right? It's the most thrilling event ever -- and Ubisoft's recreating that magic this weekend, offering one free game with any purchase from the Ubishop.

The "official" Ubisoft online store, UBIShop, is featuring the Collector's Edition of Splinter Cell: Conviction on sale for 50 percent off. That means Mr. Fisher's face-breaking-(via urinal)-adventure can infiltrate your Xbox 360 for $35 -- for an unspecified limited time. The Collector's Edition is bundled with (that possibly defective) USB drive packed with downloadable assets, art book, decals, comic book and other random doohickeys. We're following up with Ubisoft to find up when it'll put two in the back of this sale's skull. %Gallery-64705% [Thanks, Ali Mir]

  • Ubisoft launches UBIShop online store (no relation to Bishop's Univ.)

Not satisfied with offering its games through a variety of retail options worldwide, Ubisoft today launched UBIShop (pronounced "you-be-shop"), a direct-to-consumer avenue that offers boxed and digital copies of the French publisher's games. (The online store would appear to be unaffiliated with closely-named ubishops.ca, the web home of Bishop's University in Quebec, Canada.) To jump-start the store's launch, Ubisoft is offering the "Elite Echelon bundle," a collection of the original Splinter Cell, Chaos Theory, Double Agent and Conviction, for $76 on PC, along with a whole mess of PC titles as part of a buy one, get one free (old game) deal. Currently, however, the prices for some of Ubi's newer PC titles are well above comparable retailer prices. In the press announcement for UBIShop, the publisher described the destination as "an online meeting point for Ubisoft fans around the world." After our initial visit, we're not convinced there's much more here than another, potentially more expensive place to purchase Ubisoft games. That said, Beyond Good & Evil is free with purchase of several games -- not a bad freebie, Ubi.
