With all the time Nathan Drake has put into learning more about supposed ancestors, you would think he'd take more time to acknowledge family members that are actually still alive. The above extended gameplay clip of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End fixes one such oversight, filling in an overlooked, brotherly branch of Nathan's family tree after a bout of the standard "climb, shoot, almost die" Uncharted gameplay. Nathan's brother will be played by Troy Baker (Joel in The Last of Us, Pagan Min in Far Cry 4), with the sibling apparently sharing Nathan's unwavering dedication to sniffing out treasure. We'll be able to follow the brothers (and Sully) through the jungle (and figure out who's seeking revenge) when Uncharted 4: A Thief's End arrives on PS4 in 2015. [Image: Naughty Dog]

Things are looking up for the eternally-in-production film adaptation of Uncharted, as the Hollywood Reporter claims Oscar-winning screenwriter Mark Boal has been tapped to work on the film's screenplay. Though you may not recognize the name, Boal's writing chops are no secret. Not only did he win an Academy Award for writing The Hurt Locker, he's also earned numerous awards and nominations from film critics around the world for his work as both screenwriter and producer on 2012's Zero Dark Thirty. That said, it remains to be seen how Boal's talents will translate to the Uncharted film. Instead of writing the script himself, The Hollywood Reporter claims that Boal joins the production to "do a three-week production polish" on an existing script penned by Safe House screenwriter David Guggenheim. Assuming everything goes smoothly, Uncharted director Seth Gordon remains committed to start filming the movie in early 2015, with plans for a June 2016 theatrical debut. [Image: Sony]

The PlayStation 4 will soon support pre-loading via the PlayStation Store, starting with Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, due on June 24. As will be the case with all pre-orders going live after May 20, Sony says, you'll be able to download the game's files a few days in advance of its release date (even from standby mode), after which it will become unlocked on your console. While this is a convenient feature for those who prefer not to buy discs at retail, it also acts as an incentive for pre-orders made through PlayStation. Each pre-order page on the American PlayStation store comes with a clear all-caps warning: "CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS ARE NOT AVAILABLE EXCEPT WHERE REQUIRED BY LAW." The PlayStation Store is opening up pre-orders for most major games, including new PS3 games and PS4 exclusives like Bloodborne and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End – both fresh out of E3 and still without release dates.
