For all of mankind's hubris we know very little about the ocean. Developer Vertigo Games' World of Diving probably won't do much to change that, but it does allow you to visit the briny depths with friends in tow and Oculus Rift support. Initially, the developer sought to crowdfund the Oculus-enabled game, but when that failed, Vertigo turned to Steam Greenlight where the community quickly embraced the idea of an immersive underwater exploration game. Being in pre-alpha, there isn't much to say of the game so far, though Vertigo did recently launch a website for the game that allows prospective players to register for updates and lightly customize their diver of choice. As the above pre-alpha multiplayer trailer demonstrates, exploration is key in World of Diving, and while you'll encounter sharks and other deadly creatures, the sea floor is a generally serene place. That may change through the course of the game's development, but for now World of Diving appears to be a relaxing diversion - assuming your friends aren't horrible jerks.

This morning, we reported that THQ would "evaluate the next steps for the Company of Heroes series" after the March 31 conclusion of the Company of Heroes Online beta. We now know that whatever those next steps are, they won't include Company of Heroes Online. The latest THQ earnings report notes that the company has "reevaluated its strategy of adapting certain Western content for free-to-play online games in Asian markets." And, as a result of that reevaluation, it has canceled Company of Heroes Online and WWE Online. COH Online was originally announced as a South Korean release in partnership with Windysoft, and WWE Online was only intended for release in Asia. In an investor phone call, THQ CEO Brian Farrell explained the decision, claiming that THQ's focus is on "developing great content, most of it IP owned by THQ. And the concept of converting some of these concepts for a market -- though Korea's still a great market -- it just wasn't the top of our list for focus." He noted that THQ's "small" Korean office has also been closed.
