Ubisoft has released the "Khyber Strike" DLC pack for its Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, adding a 10 level cap increase, three new multiplayer maps (Switchback, Palace, and Transit), and a new Guerilla mode map named Village to the proceedings. There's also a brand new multiplayer mode named Takeover, which combines Team Deathmatch and Domination-style modes in a mad grab for points via territory and team kills. You can see a preview of the expansion and its content in the video above. The DLC is available right now for 800 points on the Xbox Live Arcade, or $9.99 on the PlayStation Network.

  • UK scientists building robot village -- can we come?

We've had it with all these sucky carbon-based lifeforms we have to smell and talk to every day. Some scientists at University of Abertay in the UK are setting up a four-year study of 60 miniature robots in a "village" setting, and we're hoping they've got room for a blogger or two. The bots will be split into groups and programmed to observe and imitate one another performing different tasks. Since the imitations will be slightly different each time, the scientists hope to be able to develop a sort of robot "culture" to try and understand how culture emerges in natural and artificial societies. Then things will get really crazy, nerd style. The scientists will alter conditions -- don't say we didn't warn you -- to see how the robots will adapt, and will alternate between states several times over a period of months to see just how much they can screw with the hapless bots. Perhaps this doesn't sound like so much fun after all, we're out. If you see a small, disgruntled army of 60 or so miniature bots wandering around your corner of England in the next few months, we suggest you run.

After seeing The Omen remake earlier & looking for some discussion of its lameness, I was browsing the official WoW forums & came across this interesting thread, which makes it seem like the peaceful little town of Goldshire might not be so bright & sunny under the surface. It seems that some folks have spotted a group of unexplained, evil-looking children, standing in a pentagram-type formation, appearing sporadically  in one of the houses in town...because you know you can't go anywhere these days without tripping over a satanic toddler. Nobody seems to be able to interact with them, and creepy music is reported to be heard in their presence. I've read through a ton of the over 666 posts on the thread, and I still can't figure out whether this is always in the game, or the result of an event or quest, so I'm going to go check it out myself as soon as possible; I'll report back after I investigate. As soon as I'm sure I won't get ganked for going within 100 yards of the Faire, that is...
