Activision puts Wii first with 'Wee 1st' program
Do you get pissed off when companies try to pass off piss-poor ports as original Wii games?. Well, urine luck! Activision's new "Wee 1st" program is designed to guide a stream of attention to games where the Wii has gone No. 1 in the developer's mind. Games like Little League World Series 2008, Rapala Fishing Frenzy and Dancing with the Stars: Get Your Dance On will be the first to try to make water out of the campaign. The program might seem like a piddling concession to the success of Nintendo's oddly-named system, but it's backed up by a national television and print ad campaign that will begin leaking out this fall. What a relief.
WWE RAW: live in HD for first time tonight
Not that rabid professional wrestling fans really needed a reminder, but WWE's first high-definition broadcast of RAW does indeed start tonight. Set to air from Virginia's Hampton Coliseum on USA HD, we can expect to see crystal clear glimpses of Triple-H, Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho (among others) -- sweat beads and artificial blood included. Play DVDs in your Wii and MiniDVDs in your Wee
Homebrew hackers Team Symbiote have reportedly enabled DVD playback on Wii consoles, a feature that many have been waiting for Nintendo to officially support since the system's release. We can't really recommend using the DVD player, as you'll need to have a modchip installed, voiding your warranty. If that doesn't sound like a big deal to you, consider this: Modchip manufacturer Wiinja has warned its customers that using the application could "cause the [Wii's] lens to deteriorate quickly over time."Playing MiniDVDs in your Wee, however, should be perfectly safe. PSPee commercial demonstrates wee joke
Two men. One bathroom. "Can I play with it?"Sony's managed to capture a little bit of that Nintendo magic in this commercial for PSP. While we find it hilarious, critical inquiry forces us to ask: Who's creepier? The guy playing the system, or the guy taking a peek? Certainly, a debate for the ages. Woman dies of 'water intoxication' after radio contest
A preliminary autopsy states that a woman died of "water intoxication" following a water drinking contest for a Nintendo Wii. News10 in Sacramento reports Station 107.9 The End's "Hold your wee for a Wii" contest had contestants doing exactly what the title says. The winner was the person who didn't release their bladder the longest. According to the woman's co-worker, after the contest, "She said to one of our supervisors that she was on her way home and her head was hurting her real bad ... she was crying and that was the last that anyone had heard from her." The co-workers contacted the woman's mother later on to check up how she was doing and she discovered the body. No word yet on how much water the woman consumed.
Neo intros diminutive 808i handset for Middle East / Europe
There's no shortage of wee sized mobiles out there to test the longevity of our poor eyes, but the "UK- and Dubai-based" startup, dubbed Neo, is adding yet another option to the mix. While we admire the shiny Photoshop job seen above, the company has reportedly assured us all that the miniscule 808i will see the light of day in "March 2007." Admittedly, the specs aren't too far-fetched (unlike some yet-to-be-produced handsets out there), as it touts tri-band compatibility, a color LCD, Bluetooth, 1.3-megapixel camera, MP3 / MP4 playback, 128MB of flash memory, and a microSD slot. At a glance, the nifty bar atop the mobile bears resemblance to some of Sony Ericsson's offerings, but the 6.7 x 4.1 x 1.3-centimeter enclosure and 90-gram weight sure stands out. If all goes "as planned," the 808i should hit the Middle East just a few months into 2007, with Europe getting it soon after.[Via RegHardware]
Need a wee during the World Cup final? Just bring your PSP
I'm not exactly what you'd call football's number one fan (that's soccer to Americans), but a lot of my friends are close. That's why I'm slightly depressed to bring you news of a World Cup themed feature for the PSP that I know a lot of my footie-loving friends would love to get their hands on. The aptly named (at least for this post) P-TV, the portable TV service for PSPs, is offering all 64 World Cup matches for viewing on the PSP for around a dollar per game. A visit to the "jardin" during a match will no longer be a problem: if you live in Japan. Yep, the deal's exclusive to the land of the steel phallus.In all seriousness, Sony could sell a bucketload of PSPs in the UK if they combined a "don't miss a single shot" marketing line with this promotion. There's no problem with access either: a lot of pubs now serve up wifi with their pints. Unfortunately, unless Sony ends up bringing this deal out of Japan, then footie fans will have to resort to that other boring, but tried-and-tested method for minimizing water breaks: not drinking so much damned beer!
